Re: 2012 Gold Strike World Poker Open - July 19 - Aug 6

Sajeffe, let me know when you might be down there and what range plo8 game your looking to play. I think im going to be down there for at least 1 week, and play plo8 up here in illinois, I could try and help get a game going depending on when you are going to be there. Anything above 2-5 though is going to be above my BR for plo8 :/

I missed you there last year, hope I can make it this year and finally get to meet you!

Last year there were lots of good cash games running and plenty of sng sats. This is an extremely well run event! With these great guarantees it should be even better than ever.

Even if I don't feel like playing due to the surgery I will still come by to beg a meal ticket off of Johnny and to say hi to all my friends. But hoping I get to play as it should be a great event like the old days at the Strike. Just look for the old man rolling around in a red electric wheelchair and my avatar is my auctual picture.

The hotel rates don't look correct on the tournament site. Is 49/69 still correct?

I called earlier tonight and talked to someone in the poker room and $49 and $69 is what they said.

I will try to spread the word about PLO 8 for the event. Hopefully we can get a regular game during the event.

[QUOTE=JohnnyGroomsTD;33354559]I will make every effort to get the structures posted today. They will be at www.goldstrike.com. Click on the casino link, followed by poker, then click on the world poker open. Schedule and structures will be there.

On the schedule of events, the room rates of $44 Sun-Thur and $69 Fri-Sat will be displayed, along with a contact number to call.[/QUI

I still do not see the structure sheets?

Johnny doesn't add the structures himself, he is at the mercy of the IT dept. and we who are familiar with casino IT depts. know they take their own sweet time. But Johnny will stay on them til it gets done. And the structures will be worth playing especially with the guarantees and you can ask Johnny, Jimmy Sommerfeld, Kenny Lambert and Jack Effel I am almost as bad as Chainsaw when it comes to wanting good structures.

To get a sneak preview, you can look at the structures posted on this link. They are identical to the ones we will use at Gold Strike.

Are you the director of both tournaments, the one @ Tunica and the one @ Biloxi coming up in August?

Yes Johnny Grooms and Eric Comer are the TDs for both the events. They are based at the Beau in Biloxi where Johnny is the poker room manager.

I'm going to try to be there from July 20 through July 24. I made a reservation at a cheap motel because I'm disabled and can't guarantee I'll be playing every day to qualify for the GS discounted rooms.

I actually have no idea how much I'll be able to play. I've only played live twice in the past three years. Once was only an hour and the other time was a tourney that really wore me out. What I want to do and what I can do are sometimes very different things, but I will try to play several hours a day if I'm feeling good.

This is why I advocate so hard for online poker, btw. And, speaking of online poker, lilprog, you are not exactly the person I want at my table. Haha. But I would really like to play PLO8 if we can get it going. I'm happy at 1-2, and definitely not higher than 2-5 for me.

In the meantime, I'll get some work in on Limit O8 as well as NLHE.

Not really the tournament director, but have a hand in the planning and operation. Eric comer is our tournament director. He has directed all events for MGM resorts in Mississippi since around 2009. I will be at both events helping out, so say hi if you see me.

Ok so I don't your exact responsibilities I just know you and Eric are the planners and the men to see if I need something or someone to bitch at. And here is a big Howdy in case I don't make it in to see you. The doc says it will take a 4-6 week recovery period from surgery before I can drive so if I can I will get my wife to drive me over.
