Re: 2012 Borgata Poker Open - Sept. 5-21

Full schedule is up as well as the structure details for all main events. Kudos to Tab, Stan, and the rest of the Borgata Poker Room staff, great job, excellent looking tourney. Especially like some of the longer level events.
All that's missing now are the structure details for Events 28-55. Any idea when those will be available? Could they at least be posted here if not on the official site?

"Winnings over $5,000 must have two forms of valid ID in order to be paid."

what is acceptable as second id, assuming Drivers Lic as first-and I don't carry my passport

Re: 2012 Borgata Poker Open - Sept. 5-21

I just called about a room for Saturday - the woman told me that poker room rates weren't out for the fall yet. I read to her:

"Just specify the Poker Open/Tournament Series and they'll be able to find them."

After 5 minutes on hold, she got them. However, it's $199 for a room w/ King bed, but $219 for a room with two queens. Anyone else get told the same thing?

Booked, and excited.

Good question. Also, do they just give you cash if you win say $20,000 or $50,000? Or do they cut you a check or something? How does that work?

I think u can get either cash or check. Afaik a credit or debit card can serve as your "secondary id"

Re: 2012 Borgata Poker Open - Sept. 5-21

Surprised there's a 2nd thread for the 1st event of the open.
I'm posting same thought/question here which appears more active:

Re 500+60 event #1
Since they are stopping day 1 @ level 16, probably not in the money yet ?
Based on levels & breaks will end 12:10-12:30 am (plus 15 min to bag) ?

You obviously dont want to reach the money @ end of day 1, with 2 day ones.

So why not start day 2 @ 11am not 1pm, since day 1 not going so late ?

With later start Day 2, 50 min blinds & probably more than 16 levels necessary
to finish if 2000-2400 runners, day 2 could easily go past 4-6 am ?

They really, really should start day 2 @ 11am ?

This post was referring to the running time of Event 1. That should answer your question stevep. Although I agree an earlier starting time wouldn't be bad. They wouldn't be able to do 11am as they have another tournament starting at that time. 12pm may have been better, but I'm sure Stan/Tab have their reasons, and if pushing into a third day is a possible option then it should be ok.

Wow this series looks great. As always great job borgata at running best mtt series in the northeast. Anyway you guys run a deep stack series in the fall (like november) like you have in the past? Also I love the 200+30 100k gtns and the 170+30. Such good value. If you guys ran these in november, i would think about coming.

I know it's a guess at this point, but which of these should have the bigger prizepool?

Sat Sept 8 Event #5 11am $350 + $50 NLH (Re-entry) $100k Guaranteed
Sat Sept 8 Event #6 1pm $1000 + $90 NLH (Re-entry)

Prize pool will most likely be close, with a slight edge to the $350 event

Two queen beds is always $20 more than one king at Borgata and Water Club
