I've searched the website and FAQs (ha), but don't see a structure posted, or anything like "how late will the day 1's play?" answered. I see they do have a dinner break planned (5:45 - 6:45) for all day 1's, after 12 40min levels (guessing based on back of napkin calc's)

Brag: won my seat yesterday in the satellite. 389 runners, 38 seats. I got a seat. Should have looked before I left the casino for the structure.

Good luck, players.

Pokeratlas has some info, but not sure where they got it:

"Structure
Level Time 40

Break Length 15 min

Break Frequency Every 3 levels.
Day 1's have 1-hour dinner break between 5:45 - 6:45 pm.

Structure Notes Day 1's play until approximately 9PM. Semi-Finals resume 8/15 at 10AM. Finals (10 players) resume 8/16 at 10AM."

And I think I read where Day 2 starts at 9am, but Day 3 (Finals) starts at 10am. I urge you to verify this information, and not take my word for it.

They usually circulate a paper sheet around the room. I haven't seen anything from their twitter account yet. If I do I will post it here. I'll actually send them a message right now!

Just noticed how ridiculous the payout structure was. It makes no sense how they did it. It almost seems like they randomly put numbers down.

https://twitter.com/AZStateChamp/sta...23531688005632

101st to 100th is +$377, 81st to 80th is +$227, then 71st to 70th is only +$151, and finally 61st to 60th is suddenly only a $75 pay jump. lol, OK then...

Also, 31st to 30th is +$378, but 21st to 20th is +$3246.

Someone please fix this next year.

There is a 15k jump each spot from 9th to 5th and then only an 8k jump from 5th to 4th.

What are they doing?

Yep, I already had looked at all of that. But my tweet was more worried about the missing 1% ($15k) which someone said was due to the Rolex.

Here are the chip counts for the final table. Someone I trust said the blinds are starting at either 120k/240k or 150k/300k.

They seriously took 1% out of the prize pool to pay for that watch? Are they taking money out of the prize pool also to pay for that gawdy god awful bird trophy too? Typical cheap talking stick.

Yes, the numbers were pretty random with 5th-10th getting way more than they should and 11th-70th getting way too little. They took $14,960 out of the pool for the watch so I added that to 1st place and made a correct payout based on paying $256,660 for 1st and keeping min cash at $2114. Payouts should have declining ratios between payout jumps. The AZ State payout had many higher ratio jumps as noted in red. I made the alternative payout groups of 20 instead of 10 for places 101-160 since I was unable to find correct declining ratios if I used groups of 10. I feel the best payout for 1st including the watch would have been $209,244 and I would have paid 15% or 227 places and min cash of $1500.

My source was joking about the watch. It sounds like a good theory, but I've heard nothing official from them about the extra 1%.

I really like your payout suggestion. You do good work!

The payout structure was really interesting and created some interesting bubble situations that I think a lot of people may have overlooked or didn't account for properly.

I had an average stack for most of day 2 and basically just wanted to hold out for 20th as that pay jump was quite significant. lot skf big stacks should have abused this bubble more but seems to go overlooked. Same for final table. My plan was basically tk fold every hands less than QQ till we got 8 handed as the 10-8 pay jump was so massive. Then once it got 5 handed to gable it up as he 5-4 pays ump was like 5k so if bust 5th it's not really a big deal at all.

Never played with him in person, but looking at his twitter history after he won and the few days after, I can confirm that is indeed him. Never seen someone so full of themselves.

Agreed. Never heard of him either, he's pretty full of himself for someone with such pedestrian Hendon Mob results.

Not only will his winning put us on the map, but he will let us know that is the case in such an eloquent manner that it needs to be reposted. What a legend.

LOL, he managed to badger Matt Savage into making him a Shooting Star. I'm pretty sure it was basically a joke. I've played with him in cash games - didn't seem like anything special. But every year he wins multiple seats into the WPT Shooting Star, and has won a prelim event, so he must be pretty good. The funny thing is, if there's no audience and you're just talking with him 1 on 1, he's the nicest guy you ever met. Real Jekyll and Hyde.
