Trying to go with actual favorites, things I tend to have seen more than once and I just like for whatever reason. In a lot of cases this puts something campy in there rather than evaluating film quality which would be a completely different list. Rough standard is what I'd be more likely to stop on if I saw it in the TV listings.

Bolded would be standouts for me. 1995 was probably toughest year to choose

I was thinking of doing this twice, once for the films I like now, and once for the films I liked then. The second one would contain mainly Abbot and Costello and Lewis and Martin flicks.

The Delicate Delinquent was the first time I was told to leave the theater because I was laughing too hard.

I almost chose The Nutty Professor because Lewis also gets to play Martin.

I think the hardest decision for me was taking The Apartment over Spartacus. I vacillated quite a bit before finally coming to a decision. However, it's one where I could change my mind tomorrow or next week.

Interesting. I had the same thought. And in making my final choice for each year, I sometimes had to leave off a film that at one time would have been one of my all-time favorites, but not so much these days. Kelly's Heroes is one that falls into that category for me. I must have seen it at least 50 times over the years and decades, but I don't think that I'd want to sit through it again these days. I'm close to reaching that point with When Harry Met Sally as well, and came close to choosing either Crimes & Misdemeanors or The Fabulous Baker Boys for 1989 instead.

Lady Snowblood is the appalling eponymous character of an appalling movie with an appalling theme. I love her dearly.

One of the first popular woman swordsman (swordsperson?) flicks.

The first one is better than the sequel, imo.

(She was an early round favorite for the character draft until I was pressured to pick more white males.)

Another one starting from way back. The 2nd entry in parentheses is the film I recall liking most at the time--'52 and '53 may have been due to lack of competition. I may or may not finish this project, but my motivation is a bit lacking as I don't feel as if I've watched enough movies in the past couple of decades.

Old dudes? When I was you age I had more respect for my elders.

I picked a few movies that I saw with my wife or girlfriends for sentimental reasons. The Crying Game was one of those. But without any sentimentality, I would take The Long Day Closes in 1992.

I also found it interesting that there was so much variance in the number of films in each year that I really liked. And the "slow" years don't seem to coincide very much with my memory of such droughts.
