I'm happy for you Klavs. At least you found your lady as a result of your work here.

It's RAINING!!!! YEAH!!!!
Now if the lightening just stays away.

Got a call at 3:00 am this morning to go out in the dark to fight a fire that is south of us and was threatening homes. We worked it until about 1:00 PM and put out a LOT of fire which felt really good. The landowners were grateful and we even had a great breakfast to keep us going.

I know we are not out of the woods with the little rain we are getting but it sure helps out with the really big fire near our house.!! Maybe I can actually work on getting everything moved back to our house tomorrow!!

I feel like this article is so good it could use its own thread, but that could just be me. I read this today and thought it was one of the best things I'd read in a long time. Great story, great telling, great character. Every part of this article was joy for me.

That story is awesome. I think I might even use it in my class to ask the kids why it is or isn't a great story.

Normally, I don't feel the least bit sorry for the people who have their houses burned down, as this is what happens every single year in California. These people just go back up and rebuild and 3 years later, they lose everything again.

However, the fact that you go out and fight the fires and not ask me to pay taxes so you can live wherever you want excludes you from any rant I have. You, sir, have my full respect.

But, same advice, be safe and don't be afraid to run away quickly.

The stress that I'm under right now has made me physically sick. I hate this so much.

Thanks daveT!

Fire stuff is all under control and i have basically everything moved back to my place with the exception of the guns and some fishing gear that is with the boy in the first town where we evacuated. He should be bringing all that back today, though. What a crazy time!

Now this upcoming weekend we are going camping near Deadwood SD and having my Father In Law Interred at the national Veterans Cemetery in Sturgis. Finally some R&R

Little Grandbaby had some sort of issue with fluid on his brain and had to have a shunt put in his little head on Saturday. He will have to have it all his life but it beats the alternative. Doctors said everything went really well and he should be OK from that. Still has to grow more and still projected to be in Denver for another month or so. Daughter has been there the whole time as well as Fishette who has been there a LOT. She is back this week to work and do the thing for her dad this weekend.
