Okay, Fish is now more jungle cat and less Hippo. I stand corrected.

Re: You can't handle the truth! What July for? (July 2012 LC thread)
can anyone recommend some good reading on motivation. I have an average amount of motivation for most things in life. I'm happy that I've at least got that, as it prevents me from being what I'd deem pathetic, but I would like to achieve more in some areas and can't quite find the intrinsic motivation. I suspect 'just do it' is the answer, but it would be nice to read a bit on the subject if there's something valuable.

Weight loss..... Nothing special to be honest. Eating far less junk, ice cream and pasta. Trying to stay away from carbs as much as I can... which I am not always successful with but I try
Drinking a LOT more water
Walking more and working around the house more but should still be exercising more than I do.
I am still too large but I am still working on getting in better shape.
Guppy is still in the hospital in Denver and the girls is still there and has been since the beginning. Fishette has spent about every weekend down there as well. I think I will be headed down this weekend to visit and see the little bugger.
He is gaining weight and was 5 1/2 pounds this morning. The newest development, as of this morning, is that his red blood cells are low. they are going to test again on thursday and if they are still low will have to do a transfusion. I guess this is fairly normal. Something about babies not producing red blood cells right after birth sometimes. I am going to make a wild guess that it is still going to be 2 to 3 weeks before he is released. I could be wrong on either end of that depending on what he does.
After he is released the girl plans on going back to NE for a week and then we will move her in with us in Montana. Not sure I am ready for a newborn baby to be around again but am sort of looking forward to it to be honest. Especially since it is not mine and I just have to help out here and there.

I used to play limit hold 'em a long time ago for small stakes, 5-10, at Foxwoods. Never a really good player, but I could handle the 5-10 games fairly well.
Got to know some of the old members here who don't post often or have left completely: M, Vince Lepore, Greg Raymer, and a few others. Rick Nebiolo, my long time friend, also introduced me to Andy Fox when I visited him a few years ago. Of course, M and Vince would be banned within a couple days anyway.

Re: You can't handle the truth! What July for? (July 2012 LC thread)
Spent a couple days in Boston last week walking most of the city, including Cambridge. Got approached by a panhandler while buying an iced coffee for the train ride home. She asked me if I would buy her an iced coffee, and she looked pretty bea,t worse than I, so I just asked her one question: "What size?"
I understand thoroughly the need for coffee.

Open question to the group. How long should you wait before asking a girl to go to a wedding with you? There are more details in the spoiler, but I'm curious about people's instinctual answer before they get answering my specific case.
In related news, I was quietly swooning in June and now have a girlfriend.

I remember all this well also (I'm a better poker player than John however). My registration #is 509 because I waited a few days after the registration started before signing up to post. I was on the pre-2002 website also but can't remember exactly how long - maybe a year? John Cole was already on and fighting it out with Ray Zee on poker topics and also in the other topics forum. Which used to be a very fun forum back in the "old days". Also they had a stock market forum. This was also, I'll remind everyone, pre moderated forum days. We didn't need those stinking mod nazis that we have now.

Thug,
If you're a "couple" already, then I see no problem inviting her to the wedding. If you're still "dating" without yet calling her your girlfriend, then perhaps you need to wait until it's closer to the wedding to ask her.

Thug, that's awesome! Congratulations
About the wedding, you're a groomsman, which means she will not be seated with you. Which means she will be seated with 7-9 strangers, which might be a bit awkward for her.

pretty much this. but you shouldnt wait too long because she might want to buy a new dress or w/e.
also, if she thinks it's something srs she might find it offensive if you dont ask her when the topic comes up.

good point. is the wedding far away? introducing her to some friends/family members when you get closer to the wedding date might be a nice thing to do (if possible)
