My forum tag and:
ridiculous <--- C'mon who doesn't like this word?
pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis <--- yes this is really word
quintessential <--- I will use this word in the next sentence

On the subject of names I once knew a quintessential white guy named Tyrone Hood.

Can we have a phrase instead?

"Ginger midget"

Say it over and over. It feels like you're kissing.

This sockdolager of a word has an unusual claim to fame in the US history. It turned out to be the cue on which John Wilkes Booth fired his shot at President Abraham Lincoln. Lincoln was watching the play "Our American Cousin" in Ford's Theater on that fateful night. His killer, Booth, an actor himself and aware of the dialog, knew the line that brought the loudest burst of laughter from the audience was:
"Well, I guess I know enough to turn you inside out, you sockdologising old man-trap."
Booth fired his gun at that precise moment to muffle the loud noise of his shot with the guffaws from the audience.

Thanks, JC. Now, for the rest of my life, whenever I see Sidney Moncrief, I will picture him in silk foppery, one leg draped over the other, sipping tea.

Which reminds me...the word haberdashery certainly belongs on such a list.

Also:

Brobdingnagian
Deleterious
Loquacious

One day I hope you reveal your theory on names.

Seems like there was a thread in this in the sports forum a few years ago. I remember contributing the immortal Shooty Babitt (Oakland Athletics, 1981), and longtime Braves farmhand Wonderful Terrific Monds.

And to keep the thread from completely derailing, I would like to add:

Fungo.

Nice call, LF. I remember seeing him on television, in the NCAA College BB tourney in '97 or '98, and thinking "What the **** were this guys parents smoking?"

When your last name is Shammgod, it tends to muddle your thought processes.

His real name was Shammgod Wow!

God Shammgod is his real name, but at PC he was known as Shammgod Wells before he went back to using his real name.
