Already done this way. Registered for the mix of Wuesthof and Victronox that Cook's Illustrated (and OOT) liked, along with a santuko from another brand CI liked that was nice and not insanely priced.
SL,

How's your Keurig holding up? A lot of Amazon reviews talk about them not lasting.

No offense, but I think this ring is pretty ghastly.

Of course if it's to be your "good" dinnerware it will just end up in a closet or under a bed and you'll never see it again after using it once or twice.

I agree with these two guys.

Not only is the flatware possibly outdated and not stylish, but it definitely does not go well with those glasses.

You should say something, if you don't like them, since you both have to eat with them!

And I'm sure she will appreciate your input (even though negative), definitely better to hear it from you rather than your MOTHER! That's the reason daughter-in-laws don't get along with mother-in-laws, cus their silly sons (and future husbands) never speak up!!!!

There is more formal stemware on the list. The glasses i posted would be more every day stuff. Between the two of us, we have both broken most of the highball glasses we own. These may be good replacements if they are as comfortable as the people on Amazon say. We will see. I ordered a set to try.

None taken, particularly since your other posts itt make it pretty clear your tastes fall nicely in line with the 12-year-old crowd espousing the cootieness of the girls at the wedding.

Oh, also, and I acknowledge I'm in the minority on this one, but keurigs (we were gifted one of the higher-end ones last Xmas) simply destroy good (e.g. Peet's-level) coffee. A drip or press maintains the richness, but the k makes a pretty swill brew.

Re: Wookie's Wide Wide World of Weddings

I had it easy as hell -wifey and mother decided to hold the wedding reception at the museum of russian art (www.tmora.org) and they only work with D'amico catering at that venue

downside, I didn't get to go to the food sampler a few months before the wedding - - that was when you could try out all the stuff for free

Also, I have a question for Klavs and Ms Boop re: flatware. What do you like? If you're going to insult K's taste, put yourselves out on the line a little bit and let us judge yours. Do you go for some other exotic style that's just that much cooler but that someone else here will probably hate on for being hideous? Do you go for supremely boring? Or do you thread that needle perfectly and have the perfect taste that everyone will love?

This is mine:

Bad lighting and unpolished but just for comparison.

Re: Wookie's Wide Wide World of Weddings

Unpolished? As in it's actually silver?

But more importantly, do you use that every day or just pull it out for special occasions?

It looks fine to me, but it also looks like a lot of other things. Why did you pick this one?

Re: Wookie's Wide Wide World of Weddings

It is silver and we don't use it every day. Every day is even more plain. We picked it because it is simple, elegant, and timeless.

Re: Wookie's Wide Wide World of Weddings

My wife put a bunch of kitchen stuff on our registry from 2009 and we never use it. She just used a hand mixer the other day for the very first time to make pound cake.

We've got a magic bullet (yes that thing from the informercial) we've used like twice.

We use our toaster regularly. We use our croc pot (super awesome for making a roast btw) regularly. We used a fondue pot twice and not since 2009.

We've got a deep fryer we have yet to use. Some 3 in 1 can opener thing we've never used. A blender we've never used. And a couple other things I can't think of b/c we never use them.

I sure would have liked to have put stuff on the registry in lieu of this crap.

But yeah a big crock (sp?) pot is pretty damn useful afaict.

Ah...in that case, order a complete set! They are rather cool and unique glasses, even though they are a bit thick...least they will last longer and that's what you want in an everyday type tumbler. Definitely serve drinks in them, when your buddies come over to watch the game!

Never meant to insult anyone! Just my honest opinion, no biggie since you don't know me, so don't take it personally...same as you shouldn't read too much into all those amazon viewers who review a product, since you don't know them. So unless they are reviewing a product's quality, delivery or performance...you shouldn't rely on what they say too much, especially when it comes to style, pattern, fashions, etc.

Ok...honestly, it's the top part of the fork pattern...that made me wince when I first viewed it. The bottom pattern is nice, for a formal set. Although, the quality isn't the best. I believe, the best premium ss is 18/10...and these are 18/8? (I think)

What else I don't like about the dreaded "fork"?!

Usually the prongs in a fork are suppose to sink into your food, so you have a better grasp at the handle (imo), when slicing into thick cuts of meat or w/e.

Your choice of "fork" will definitely fail, leaving your yummy juices from that delicious 1 1/2" Porterhouse steak...flowing onto the plate and your steak drying out, whilst you go fetch the "sturdy-everyday" fork to eat with!

It's as though you have 2 dessert forks and no dinner forks, since a dessert fork doesn't need long prongs.

Never claimed to be perfect, not in this thread nor in real life...but you did ask our opinion and that is what I gave you, sorry you didn't like it.

Now...as for me, I honestly don't care to be judged by a bunch of strangers on an online forum. Especially when I don't even let my friends and family's judgement bother me! I think I have pretty good taste, in the 'stuff' I purchase for my place. Then again, in the end...it's WHAT I LIKE, WHAT I FEEL COMFY with and WITH WHAT MAKES ME HAPPY..., so to hell with whatever anyone else thinks! Can't please everyone, since you will always get that 1 person who has something negative to say. So why bother trying? As for you, Mr.Wookie...only thing you have to remember is "A happy wife, a happy life!"

Good luck again and sorry if I offended either you and/or your wife.

I wasn't aware there was such a thing as boring silverware. I mean...I guess I was, but I just assumed no one cared about that except my crazy aunt.
