I still watch Star Trek pretty much every day. I thought perhaps the Marque was cool, until I realized how spiritual the Bjorns were, believing in the prophets, and yada. Quark delivers in DS9 though. He kind'a whimped out on arms dealing, and they ruined the Ferengi government, but I digress. The show is great for sparking philosophical questions, excellent costumes, compelling action, and technological wizardry. The idea that you can, say, "the clear and eminent threat of capitalism and greed" with
is laughably so bad it's funny. Even in Star Trek topia, TECHNOLOGY doesn't create dylithium crystals. Though lacking in this area, it at least it sparks ideas with ethical dillemas, and big questions.
