Speaking of accents, holy **** yours is awesome. I mean, I knew you were English, but not THAT English! It's like I'm listening to the cast of Snatch do a podcast lol. What's the proper term for your accent? And what about your co-host? She sounds just a tad more "proper" than you, if you know what I mean.

Good job! I'll be listening to more as I play poker this weekend
PS I will be using this as feedback in our show about episode 3

Wow, can't believe one of the GOAT TV shows makes its 25 year comeback and this thread only has 2 people active in it!

Watched the first 3 parts of the new season last night and was really impressed - it definitely surpassed expectations.

Great to see those familiar faces and locations again. Weird seeing them in HD though. Also good to see the story expand beyond the town. It still felt like we were in TP even when we were in NY. Lynch has such a unique style that is a large part of what makes the show what it is. The long, slow camera shots give it a pacing and feel unlike anything else on tv. Thought the quality and detail in the sound design was incredible too.

Was really worried that this comeback either wouldn't happen or would be a let down, but it's looking excellent so far.

Really wanna know wtf is going on at that glass box place.

Also "Mr C" was a total badass.

I call him Cage Cooper. He reminds me of Nic Cage in some of his 80s movies.

I think I set unreal expectations for this. Was looking for the same feeling of discovery as the first season and Fire Walk With Me. And where's the haunting new score from Badalamenti? I'm still happy so far. Agree with "Eraserhead" feel.

Is it me or is some of the acting forced/over the top? i.e Andy and his quirks? IDK

I still laugh at imagining Lynch explaining his ideas:
Spoiler:
"So he goes through outlet and his shoes fall off and lands near the vomit on the other side."

Seems to me more like you weren't looking for the same feeling of discovery, but for the *same discovery*. It's kinda clear that we have gotten something that's different than anything else ever.

Thanks for explaining my thoughts, but no. It's semantics. We have seen a lot of this before. Borrowed from lost highway, Mulholland drive (double identity), etc. The arm "tree" is straight off the album cover of Julee Cruise. Yes, there's new stuff. But welcome.

I see what you mean in terms of some of the broad strokes and many of the individual elements. But I think that on the whole it feels very new and different and unexpected. Like just by taking it out of Twin Peaks and putting it into a frickin' Las Vegas casino, you're already doing things wildly differently.

Granted, you could say there are plenty of shows that have come since TP1 that do surrealist mystery (uh wait...are there?), but it's the way everything is put together (or not put together) so far that is so refreshing.

Got my coffee (decaf, it's late) brewing right now for the west coast viewing.

Love that sound.

Also cherry pie from Whole Foods ready. Recommended. It has a nice mix of tartness and sweetness.

Had to wait until tonight to see episode 5...

I'm getting s little impatient with Dougie/Coop. It's time for him to snap out of it.

Of course, Jacoby is airing a pirate conspiracy theory webcast!

I'm thinking Shelly's daughter is in for a world of hurt...

Yep, agree with this. So weird / annoying how nobody seems to think anything is seriously wrong with his behaviour and they all just helpfully nurse him.

Thought he was going to snap out of it when he smelled that coffee. Hopefully the wheels are in motion now the great northern key is in the mail and he's had a couple of awakenings.

I occurred to me yesterday that he might be the son of Audrey and Dark Cooper?!?

The Cooper scenes themselves are frustrating, but everything else is pretty strong. I do wonder how this will work on a rewatch. (It potentially works better because you're not expecting/hoping for things to happen, you know how it plays out. I firmly believe this to be the case with Sopranos Season 4; many were bored on the first watch in 2002 because it mostly wasn't immediately gratifying. I loved it when revisiting.)

I'm sure it's part of the point. He could easily have made these scenes shorter in the script, shooting, or editing phases and deliberately chose not to. Possibly ignored network input as well if they were allowed to even say anything.

This episode had a lot of other stuff to retain interest though.

I didn't find the Dougie parts frustrating this episode for the first time I think, mainly because I've given up on the idea that he'll snap out of it anytime soon.

Overall this was my favourite episode since Part 1 and 2, so many scenes had me mesmerised : Richard Horne with the drug dealer, Cooper's case file "work", and of course the hit and run scene which reminded me of the scenes of grief in the first season of Twin Peaks.
