Agreed on Brockmire. Just watched the first 2 and it rocks. Could easily become my favorite current show.

Finishing up the final season of Lost in the next few weeks because of a deal I made almost literally with the devil in order to bring Lynch back to Twin Peaks.

I continue to be just flabbergasted as to how anybody who thinks about art intelligently could have still found value in this show by its final season. Teenagers who got taken in by the mystery, I get it. Older people who still have that mentality and think that Christopher Nolan is the greatest filmmaker who ever lived? Sure, I get it. But the many others who stuck with the show? God. I have 11 episodes left and I would not hesitate in leaving them unseen forever if I hadn't made this promise to somebody (I always pay my debts).

By this point there is time travel, alternate dimensions, magical people, and characters coming back to life. Nothing has the slightest bit of weight anymore, because a few scenes later I know they can and will just bring the dead character back or whatever. This isn't to say you can't make compelling stories with these elements, but Lost has managed to completely and utterly lose my engagement in every way. And I still try - I don't check my phone while I'm watching or anything like that.

Cutting this short.

Watched Hatfields & McCoys on Netflix. It's a 3-part miniseries starring Kevin Costner and Bill Pullman. I'd never heard of it, but it was released in 2012 and won a bunch of Emmys, so maybe most of you have seen it already.

I've only heard of the feud referenced before so this was all new to me, but after reading up a bit about it, it looks like the show stayed very close to the actual events. I enjoyed this a lot - would definitely recommend it to anybody who enjoys westerns, or just history in general.

Also, it blew my mind when I found out that Cotton Top is the same guy that plays Mickey on Shameless.

I just watched this for the second time and enjoyed it more than the first for some reason. I'm not a Costner fan and think that put me off a bit the first time round, but he fit's his role perfectly and plays well against Bill Pullman.
Definitely recommend it, it's quite a story.

I watched the first 2 or 3 and hated it. But I believe it has some hardcore 2+2 fans.

just came in to post that I cant wait for leftovers season 3. I thought season 1 was a bit slow at times but the setting in season 2 was amazing (Miracle, TX). I think we should do a show thread for season 3.

Psychoville http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1305562/

Dark, disturbing and bizarre comedy from the makers of League Of Gentlemen
This show had me laughing out loud one minute and cringing uncomfortably the next. There's a lot of typically English references so you Johnny foreigners might struggle with some of it but that shouldn't distract from the overall story.
Besides, you'll probably be too freaked out to notice.

Does anybody have experience with Amazon Fire TV and/or Roku? I'd get one of the more powerful versions, not the sticks (still all less than $100). Biggest thing I need it for will be Showtime for Twin Peaks, also probably Sling TV for the rest of the NBA playoffs.

I don't think I'm interested in Chromecast because it requires your laptop or phone to be hooked to it too or whatever rather than being its own box? Also would prefer not to voluntarily throw more money at Google.

I'm most concerned about, obviously, a good picture and a good framerate. I did a trial of PS Vue on my PS3 and it was awful; pirate streams on my MacBook Air were way better. PS Vue on PS4 may be much better from what I hear, and I'd also consider moving up my purchase of a PS4 if that's the case rather than messing with these other boxes. Although, Vue would not give me ABC which I'll need for the NBA soon. Sling would (not available on PS4).

Got a Roku box for my new place.
House only has basic cable and use sling for the rest. I can't tell the difference between roku stream and the cable hookup. (720 plasma tv)
If your wifi is weak, the roku does suffer. Started a virtual router from my desktop so no wifi problems anymore.
The interface is a bit wonky and I miss the instant channel change of punching in channel numbers.

Nat Geo's LA 92 is astounding. It's a doc on the L.A. riots, airing 25 years to the day after the fact.

I was living in L.A. in 1992, a couple of miles from Florence and Normandie. My roommate and I were living in a cheap apartment complex, and we locked the doors and turned out all of the lights. Our place was on a direct line in between South Central and Beverly Hills. We assumed that's where the rioters were going to head. When we could see the flames from our balcony, we finally decided to leave. We drove to a friend's house in Long Beach, not knowing if out place would still be standing when we returned. We didn't return for three days.

Right now the only shows I'm watching as they come out are Better Call Saul and The Leftovers. I'll keep up with Game of Thrones too. Fargo I'm just gonna wait til it's done and binge it. The Americans I watched ep1 of s5, feel zero urgency and probably will wait on that too.

Big Little Lies I found unwatchable.

Netflix has a strong documentary about a pair of corrupt police officers in the 80s-90s, titled The Seven Five.

TFW you order Twin Peaks: The Entire Mystery Blu-Ray right before Season 3 so that you can watch The Missing Pieces and refresh on some other stuff, but they ship you Roseanne: The Complete Series.

Just imagine how confused you'd be if it was the other way around.
