I was looking into Penny Dreadful last night. Is it any good? The cast looks great (and I'll watch anything with Eva Green in).

Its good IMO didn't grip me into being excited for the next season but if you are into this type of Supernatural/Horror genre from the 19th century you will most likely Enjoy it.

Anyone else watch Mr Robot? Only two more episodes left in season 2! I can't wait to see how it wraps up.

I quit Mr. Robot 2 episodes in this season but I still have them accumulating on my DvR not sure if I will at some point watch them or just erase? I just wasn't feeling it at all but feel it has potential. I thought season one was only okay though and totally forgettable so I think I just may not be the target audience. Seems to be designed for a very hardcore niche.

Mr Robot confirmed GOAT ; it was a slow start to season 2, but was loving the atmosphere, character build-up, symbolic value... now it is simply amazing.

Mr BB,
wait for the last 2 to come out, then binge watch it. I watched the first 4 week by week, and then binged the last 6. Much better. It's easy to lose the continuity week to week. Plus it keeps you from thinking too hard about individual plots.

---------------

Watched the first episode of Son of Zorn. Oddly funny. Don't know if it has a future or not, but worth taking a chance.

Leverage (S1) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1103987/

An insurance investigators son dies because the company he works for refused to pay for treatment, so he puts together a team of thieves, grifters and hackers who act as modern day Robin Hoods, standing up for the 'little guy'.

This is basically the A-Team revamped with a little bit of Oceans 11 thrown in. Not to be taken seriously, this is a good fun show with plenty of chuckles throughout.

There are 5 seasons of this show so I expect it might get a little stale after a while, but S1 is watchable on it's own.
Good way to spend a lazy Sunday imo.

So on tonight's Emmys, I learned that Sara Paulson is dating Holland Taylor.

That's one I didn't see coming.

Very much enjoyed s1 and s2 of Penny Dreadful. It's the best show that lacks a thread of any that I've watched.

The show has a very strong aesthetic and thematic identity (really seems to nail the Victorian cultural vibe), some really interesting characters, the beautiful Eva Green, and less filler than most other shows.

All that being said, I'm not enjoying s3 much a few episodes in.

Been watching a lot of superhero shows for some reason. Really disappointed with S2 of Daredevil, even though S1 was excellent. First two episodes of Luke Cage are A+.

Will probably pick up Supergirl as my go-to guilty pleasure watch now that I'm finished with The Flash.

Vinyl http://www.imdb.com/title/tt3186130/?ref_=nv_sr_1
Brilliant HBO show created by Rich Cohen, Martin Scorsese and Mick Jagger.

Bobby Cannavale gives an excellent performance as Richie Finestra, owner of American Century record label in 70's New York, who bounces from one coke-fuelled calamity to another as he tries to take his label in a new direction. Worth watching for the killer soundtrack alone.

It's biggest problem, imo, is that Scorsese didn't direct it all. Apart from that I was thoroughly entertained, did I mention the killer soundtrack?

Glitch http://www.imdb.com/title/tt4192782/

One night, in a small town, six dead people climb out of their graves, perfectly healthy but with little memory.

I enjoyed this Australian mystery a lot. It's got it's predictable elements, but it's also got a few suprise reveals as well that are nicely spread out through the show as the dead people begin to remember their pasts.

It's only 6 eps long but they've left it open for a sequel that I hope gets made.

Okkupert (Occupied) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt4192998/

Set in the near future. Norway gets occupied by the Russians, backed by the EU, who are not happy about Norways plans to cut fossil fuel production in favour of a new energy source.
Norways PM tries desperatly to avoid military escalation by accomodating the Russians as much as possible. But things escalate slowly as the Russians bully their way into Norways affairs and a growing resistance movement begins to fight back.

Brilliant, very well made political thriller with a current of tension running through it that gathers pace slowly but surely as things escalate.
