HBO has a documentary running right now called Terror at the Mall, about the Nairobi Westgate Mall terror attack in 2013.

This is one of the most remarkable documents of an attack in progress I've seen. It's told though first-hand accounts from police, victims, mall workers, and photographers, and amazing security camera footage of the whole thing. There is also a photographer who runs into the mall during the attack and shoots high-speed stills that look like stuttering video.

It's an astounding account. Especially since the police and army did not arrive for 90 minutes while the attack was going on. ~67 people died in that mall.

Wow! Just watched this based on your reccomendation. Totally riveting and depressing. Worst rescue operation ever! Very scary that something like this could happen anywhere but at least if it happened here there would be a rapid response.

Latest series of Silk appears to be gaining steam. Until now (dunno ep 6?), it has been abit too much office politics and not enough Martha in court. I am hoping that as the plot gets more complex they are able to sustain the drama and suspense.

I've just finished seasons 2 + 3 of Breaking Bad and have to say I am loving every minute.
I don't find it preachy at all, but do find that the suspense has dissipated completely. Not because of bad writing, acting etc, (I think this is still a finely crafted series), but because I know there's more to come so any scrapes they get into, they will get out of.
I'm loving the dark humour and am laughing out loud all through.
Spoiler:
The beer bottles popping in Hank's garage in the middle of the night, for instance, was just perfect.

So I'm looking forward to the next installments, hopefully I'll pick them up next week.

Hannibal is among GOAT. Just finished season 1.

Gotham is among the WOAT. I'm not sure what's more astonishing, how bad it is or the stellar reviews it's getting. Huge wtf.

There's a thread for it. A few watchers. I used to be one of them, but I'm waiting to see how the season wraps up before I jump back in.

The Knick is great. I wish it was about Algernon instead of Thackery though.

Silk(S3)(UK) let me down. It is watchable but nothing to go out of your way to see.

Borgen(Denmark) (S3) is still very good.

Spoiler:
I am at the stage where her cancer has reappeared a day before the election.

Whilst Borgen is an attempt at realist poltics/media culture - it is through a 'romantic' and rose coloured prism nonetheless. Which I suppose is no fault but just an observation.

Utopia S1: ABC (Ausralia) comedy on National Authorities and the absurdities of public planning, marketing jargon and office politics is brilliant. I think it would cross-cultures (almost certainly to Britain if not to US) not sure how you would get a hold of it though.

Another HBO doc that's airing now is The Case Against 8 - about the fight to strike down California's Proposition 8 that banned gay marriage.

It's paced like a legal thriller and goes through all of the steps the litigants had to go through - all of the way to the Supreme Court - to get Prop 8 overturned. It focuses on two couples - two women and two men - and their attorneys as they fight this over 6 years.

This is an incredibly emotional story and one that had me tearing up a few times. To see America embrace basic human rights and dignity the way that it has over the last few years is inspiring as hell.

ABC (Australia) is replaying the BBC mini-series The Shadow Line. Is it worth rewatching? I am inclined to say yes. Do you agree?
