That's what I'm currently after. Something which isn't too serious but still great to watch.

*minor spoilers?*

Yeah, currently watching the UK version after finishing the US season 2. Still prefer the US version, but the UK version is much more tightly written. Seems to me that UK TV series tend to have a defined starting point and ending point; they know the show will last for three seasons, so they write around that.

American shows just seem to be written so that the writers have subplots to go to in case the show gets renewed for an extra year. Did the subplot involving the BBQ joint owner add anything to the story?

First episode of Fargo was pretty great IMO. Captured the dark humor of the movie plus Martin Freeman and Billy Bob Thorton are crushing.

First episode was really awesome. Had the same kind of feel as the movie.

4) There was a lot of bad acting among secondary characters in the 80s

otherwise,

I finally watched the rest, and take back point 1. It's totally as cool as it's trying to be.

After my first post, I saw a judge with a pump action shotgun, a clerk with a magnum, Sonny getting it on with a work colleague, and a bad guy in a dress.

So 80s, it hurts, in a good way.

I rate it Awesome++

I never cottoned to Miami Vice much, and I can't believe it doesn't seem incredibly dated by now.

I loved the start as well, just before you realise they were clearly making it up as they went along.

Yeah Lost seriously loses it. Looking back it's still better than most. There's maybe 5/6 shows max than have managed to be consistently good over 6+ series, it's hard. The main difficulty is no one is ever commissioned to do that many series so nothings been thought through or planned for that far ahead. It was blindingly obvious that Lost had no idea where they were going with it, but that said it is still better that 90% of the **** thats pumped out.

Lost is a tough call as far as advising pro or con. People probably enjoy the ride, maybe skip the last couple of seasons!

Fargo. Billy Bob is the man. Generally well done.

If your answer is anything that comes on CBS then take some free advice and kill yourself.

I haven't really been into too many shows lately, and while I wasn't a regular, consistent watcher of the show, I found The Neighbors to be very underrated. It appears that it just had its series finale, but they did some fantastic fourth wall-breaking in that episode, with the characters being aware that it's a TV show and hinting at the cancellation.

I stopped early in the second season, but the first season definitely had its moments. They broke the 4th wall similarly in the first episode of the second season by saying that whatever was on next was coming on next, and talking about some canceled show "not even getting a pity move to Fridays" (which is what happened to The Neighbors).

Bingewatched the second half of season 4 of Walking Dead yesterday with one of my sons. Pretty decent, except even I (who am forgiving of bad plotting/logic on TV shows) got annoyed that the two weird little girls and a baby kept being left all alone by the adults in effectively open areas of land. My son got even more annoyed by it.

I thought that The Pacific was every bit as good as BoB.

Other good series to watch are
The Bridge - 1 + 2
The Killing - 1 + 2
The original versions are the best by far, the American remakes fall far too short imo and are lacking atmosphere and tension, (and good acting lol!)
