This show is superb. 19th Century gothic horror at its finest imo.
It brings all the classic goth horror monsters and characters together in a compelling story that echo's the old Hammer movies but with a bit of tweaking that keeps it fresh.
Great production values, great acting, nothing not to like about this.
Eagerly looking forward to S2.
Interesting you pick Hammer, and I wouldn't argue about that. I think it feels like it's channeling Universal, and injecting a bit of the early 90s gothic horror tradition of Dracula (1992) and Branagh's Frankenstein, whilst making it feel very in tune with more sophisticated tastes of now.
S2 is in some ways even better (no dead spots), though some parts of S1 are really transcendent. I'm embarking on S3 shortly.
