Re: Top 3 or 5 of all time TV series
For all you that love Entourage, why? It may be entertaining but I guess I'm not a huge fan..I hate Vince he just has no personality, Eric is a bitch. Ari and the other 2 barns are kind of cool, but that's about it.
I'd have to go somewhere along the lines of...
Dexter
Six Feet Under
Seinfeld
Curb
Wire
Sopranos
It's Always Sunny

Re: Top 3 or 5 of all time TV series
So I'm caught up on Lost (as shown by my avatar). It's definitely entertaining, but still don't think it's possible to put it in the best of all time until the damn thing is over. It's still way too much of a "watch to see what happens" type of show, and they could really screw that up.

The only reason I keep watching LOST at this point is to see how it ends which I fear they will screw up and make even more ludicrous than it has already become. With each new episode it drops a little more in my mind. I can't imagine people putting it on an "all-time best" list? It is (or was?) entertaining but fully disposable in my mind. It's not even in my top 10 of current shows anymore.

Re: Top 3 or 5 of all time TV series
A show built on mystery and ambiguity needs to end in ambiguity to stay great imo.
I wouldn't expect any straight answers

I don't In fact I saw part of an interview with the creators who stated themselves that many people may be disappointed with the ending. But I'm already disappointed with the direction it has taken over the past season or 2 so I am beyond disappointment at this juncture and I believe they can only pleasantly surprise me with my current feelings about the show or keep me in my current state of disappointment.

Re: Top 3 or 5 of all time TV series
Lost? Come on...it's not even the best show on a weeknight right now, never mind the best ever. It was great for the first 2 seasons, but after that the writing went to crap. I can't even watch it any more its so bad.
Breaking Bad and Mad Men are the 2 best shows currently on imo.

Writing has always been bad, or at least the dialogue. It's so predictable it's a joke.

Rumpole of the Bailey (and I'm not a bit surprised no one else has mentioned this one).
Dr. Who in its most recent incarnation. Sad to see David Tennant go as The Doctor.
The West Wing, which consistently featured the best writing on TV.
Deadwood, fully Shakespearean in tone, character, and language.
Monty Python. C'mon, some of you people really think Friends is funny?

Dexter has more intolerable regular characters than Entourage, and that's not easy. Clearly neither are top 3 of 5 shows at all.
