Re: TLDR Beer Club

Coff - word on the Philly Tap Finder

I'm definitely down for seeking out Pliny when it comes into town. I'm at Eulogy, Misconduct (good for Colorado brews), and Flat Rock fairly often.

Just picked up from Whole Foods:

Cigar City Cedar Aged Jai Alai IPA
Rochefort 10
Russian River Damnation

They were out of Sinebrychoff (Koff) Porter

Re: TLDR Beer Club

Oh hey, just found this thread.
Let me say hello to everyone!
I am a home brewer (oktoberfest bottled, apple wheat on tap now, blueberry stout in the fermenter) and self-proclaimed beer snob.

Let me contribute by asking if anyone has ever had the joy of any of the schneider and sohn beers, in particular the aventinus. It is a dopplebock with hints of clove and banana. It is heaven in a glass, but basically all the schneider beer are great.

Just nabbed me an Innis and Gunn at whole foods. Their selection is surprisingly good!

Re: TLDR Beer Club

I haven't gone through this whole thread to see if it has been yet mentioned, but Anchor Steam has come out with something they call "Humming Ale" which is supposed to be a throwback to the style they made when they re-opened in their current location in '77. I normally pick up the Xmas ale but they were sold out, so this became a stumble upon:

http://www.anchorbrewing.com/beers/hummingale.htm

Overall, very enjoyable. I'm not really one for beer terminology but it seemed to be a little lighter in body than their standard offering and didn't have that sort of nuttiness or that I think of with Anchor Steam. Unlike the Liberty Ale or the Xmas Ale, the Humming Ale is much less akin to the standard Anchor Steam line, which is not necessarily meant as either a compliment or slur.

My buddy is a bartender at Eulogy, most of the time he is on the second floor but has been gettin a few shifts on the 1st floor. His name is Andrew, if you talk some poker with him he might hook you up, lol. He usually lets me know ahead of time if they get Pliny in.

My tab is usually never over $15.

Price is not an issue. Would definitely do a West Coast / East Coast swap with someone if they wanted.
Check out South Bay Drugs and Beverages 4 Less. Both are San Diego area stores that get it in fairly frequently. They have many other west coast goodies as well.

I've never seen Summit IPA at the dome. Are you sure you don't mean EPA? That is by far their biggest selling beer.

Re: TLDR Beer Club

Eh maybe it was EPA, thought it was their IPA.. I've only had it a couple times there (only been of age at the dome 3 times)

edit: yea, it was EPA..

Re: TLDR Beer Club

I just typed out a longish TR and accidentally deleted it. THe brief version:

Had the sampler. I am used to getting 5-8 beers in a sample. Today I got 16.

The highlights- Blind Pig IPA, Pliny the elder, Supplication, Sanctification, and Compunction.

The wild ales are great. Sour, dry finish, and all with a citrus nose. The Blind Pig IPA is great - a well balanced IPA at only 6% ABV.

Ofcourse, Pliny the Elder is sublime. The nose is of whole hops flowers, the taste is citrus and a pine like taste, which I think is not unlike an unripe mango. Love it.

PtY will be released in February. The date has not been revealed yet.
