look man, nobody is saying it's the same. it's a similar concept though. it's responsibility, it's a living thing that is dependent on you. less when kids are 2, 3, 4 yrs old, more like infants. there are plenty of ****ty parents out there, and plenty of ****ty dog owners. and i'm sure the ****tiest parent you can think of is doing a worse job than the best dog owner you can think of.

it annoys you that people think of themselves as a mommy or daddy to a dog. we get it. you have kids. something that almost everyone on earth does at some point. congratulations!

Haha I used to hate this. It drives me CRAZY. I knew a girl in my nursing classes that did this constantly. She really liked me and always wanted to show me pictures of her little dog. she doted on it and referred to herself as the dog's "Mommy". She was a nice person but this really drove me nuts. And then I got my dog and now I find myself doing it all the time

. I just love him dog so much.

obviously he's right, people who actually think the effort of taking care of a dog is anything like that involved in being a parent are ****ing nuts (most people who say this are just being cheeky or at worst trying to tweak supernits like goodie, but of course there are a tiny few who actually think they're doing something noteworthy), but making a big deal out of it or getting upset by it is horribly -EV. Getting all huffy and poasting on teh intarwebs about it is like hall-of-fame bad.

I actually thought about you this morning as I was coming down the stairs and bumped into my dog. I said "you woke Mommy up this morning with all your barking." Then I groaned to myself "oh God I've turned into that person that Goodie hates. lol. Crap, I've turned into that crazy lady at work that I hate. oh my god it's happening to me! I've become a nut." crap

I didn't read prana's comment as being serious, in fact, I read it as implying that getting upset as using the term mommy/daddy for a pet is a little self righteous; and yes, you are being very self righteous.

Being a parent isn't just about creating life, it's about providing safety and care (regardless of the thing for which you are caring). There's nothing wrong with saying you're a pet parent. Words can have multiple meanings (i.e. douche bag)

Sooo my wife and I have 8 cats. We volunteer for a rescue group. Started out with 2, then 3, then 5, etc. They are all great cats and very entertaining to have around. We don't plan to add any more though!

Anyway apologies for all the pics but here's a few pics of some of them:

does anybody know a good site to buy a cat condo? we have one of those cheap ones from petsmart but it fell apart pretty easily. we want a big heavy duty one.
