So after a few weeks of not being able to decide I went with Gobbo's suggestion. Chloe she is.

Got her spayed and stuff a week after I got her. Everything went great.

Yesterday though, all of a sudden she started acting weird and whimpering when I would pet her and stuff. Brought her to the vet right away as I was worried she ate something stupid. Well, she has lyme disease. The place I adopted her from never used anything and even though I pulled a bunch of tics off her when I got her and put her on Frontline right away it was too late.

They said she will feel better in 2-3 days but holy **** last night she started limping and this morning she really didn't want to walk on her front left leg or her right hind leg. I had to carry her outside and she is whimpering all the time.

So yeah, that was fun. I get to bring her in in 3 weeks for another blood test.

Use something to prevent tics people.

aww, that's sad prana. At least it sounds like she'll recover fully. I guess this is just a test of your love and commitment to her and you passed with an A+. btw, Chloe is a great name.

Sounds like my cat except for the hiding part. In a fight between my cat and a rottweiler, I'd put money on my cat.

She has, literally, made a grown, two-hundred and fifty pound man (not me) turn around and run. I know better, I back up away from her.

Dogs > Cats. And anyone who says otherwise is a lincolnpoop.

Btw, I'm an unbiased source, I promise. It's my journalistic doodie to remain objective.

Brag: my cat won a fight against a Rottweiler. She has a sweet disposition though, so def. not a cat from Hell.

Finally I am able to contirbute to this cool thread. We just got our dog 3 days ago and he is keeping us busy as hell but we already love him a lot.

He is an 8 week old Puggle ( Pug / Beagle mix)and we named him Henry, basically after Henry Hill from Good Fellas

Thanks. I bet he would love that

I will try to take some pictures when he is awake, but thats kinda difficult because he is so energetic and damn fast for a 8 week old.

Btw, last night (his fourth night with us) we tried to let him sleep as long as he can without going out to pee and he slept until 06:30 in the morning and then we went out.

Is this Ok for him or should I wake him sometime during the night to let him pee?

Might be a stupid question but it`s my first dog and it seems strange that a young puppy can sleep the whole night without going out. (He also drank quite a lot before sleeping and at 06:30 it took him a while to fully empty his bladder )

I'd search corners for wet spots/urine stains. If a puppy wants to pee before he's trained he will pee where ever he can.

But it's possible he waited for you...

Yeah, there where none (wet spots).

His basket is also right next to my head when I sleep so I here every moving, he moved a few times and I tried to bring him out to pee and he just walked back in to sleep. It was really funny, he was so lazy, and gave me that "WTF??? I`m trying to sleep here!" look. I love him so much!

Had a mini cat freak out this morning. Our cats are 100% indoor cats, and when I woke up and walked down the hall this morning, our front door was wide open. One of our two cats (the sensible one) was sitting in the doorway looking out, and the other one was walking through our front lawn (away from the door). When I walked to the door, the one in the lawn dashed back in, I presume knowing that he wasn't supposed to be out there (he also does this when I catch him on the counter: Runs like he's being chased by a banshee).

We don't really know what to make of it. A friend of ours left the night before at around 11:30, and must not have closed the door all the way, but who knows how long it had been open. It seems doubtful, but possible, that the door had only been open a short period of time. Assuming it was open for a significant period of time, I guess it's good to know that they don't have a huge desire to run away. Our last cat was a bolter who would scream out the door if it was left open and just run until something freaked him and we caught him (not easy, and thankfully it only happened a couple times).

We got a new dog!

I posted a few pictures earlier in this thread (boxer and maltipoo)

Now a dalmatian. His name is Charlie and is 11 months old. It was from a friend of mine but she decided she couldn't keep him anymore in her appartment.

Have him for a few days now and there has been a few fights with our boxer. She's being very protective over her tennisballs and she will hunt him down if he got one. Overall it's going fine, they sleep, eat and play together in the garden with no problem. Charlie is extremely smart, and listens extremely well. He's also very happy here because we have a big garden and he came from an appartment.

Blame disney -- a dalmatian should never have even been on the table for someone living in an apt.

As far as relations with the smaller dog in the house -- the more exercise he gets, the better things are likely to go. The breed needs supervised outdoor exercise probably more than any other.

If you or a friend jogs or runs frequently, the dog will benefit massively from being taken along. the popular culture image of the dalmatian is that it rides on a firetruck -- but the association with Firemen comes from the days when fire trucks were pulled by horses, and the dalmatian would run along side to keep the horses (which are instinctively hesitant to run towards a fire) going.

Here's our Labrador Retriever Winnie, all grown up now at 6 months old.

Took her to the vet to get spayed on Monday. That was a costly little trip - $440! Is this roughly in line with what others have paid for their animals?

Could've sworn I posted in this but 2+2 says I haven't. So, here's my Chloe:

She just turned 3 earlier this week, and is awesome. She's really smart and cuddly, pretty much everyone loves her except for my one friend that hates her out of spite since she ate his shoes one time when she was a pup.

She got hit by a car on Christmas Eve 2009 and doesn't have any teeth on the left side of her mouth but she's still pretty damn cute.

Nearly lostthe little guy last week when he got a blood infection and lost a third of his weight in 24 hrs and couldnt move or stand for 3 days. After being on so many drugs that it would make keith richards blush he is starting to get back to health. Spent 48 hrs up with him making sure he wouldnt cark it. He has now developed an addiction to raw bacon which he is being fed to fatten up.
