If your serious about this I suggest doing a TON of research first. It is getting more common to see these dogs in shelters/rescues because their owners were not prepared for what is entailed with having a VERY large dog. Barbie is very likely to be over 200 pounds full grown, her mother was 185 and father was 235. EVERYTHING for Barbie is substantially more then what you would expect, basically if you have owned any kind of normal sized dog before plan on doubling or tripling the cost of everything.

Besides eating insane amounts of non processed dog food she has to have the largest leash, collars, bowls, beds, treats, etc. They also have to have special surgery called gastropexy (Barbie's was done when she was spade) in order to prevent bloat which is very common in dogs her size. I also have to double up on her heartworm pills and vet visits are generally just more expsensive because if they give her any kind of medication/shot/whatever the dosage often has to be doubled.

I was very prepared and have no regrets, shes an awesome animal and a great companion but she sure aint cheap lol.

I like to think of mastiffs as small horses instead of dogs.

These two always chase each other around and fight, etc... but I'm going through a divorce right now and feel like complete **** at home all the time. There's been a lot more of this since my ex wife left... almost like they can sense you have a heavy heart. <3 these guys.

Aww SneakyFerret I'm so sorry to hear that. What a bummer. I'm glad you still have your furry friends with you. They're really cute. I hope you feel better soon.

Awesome! How old is the puppy? We have a friend who has 2 weimaraners. They're really eye-catching!

My dog is acting aggressive with neighborhood dogs (barking fiercing...acting like he can take them). What is the best way to handle this?

Its probably not aggression at 7 months. He either wants to play and is trying to get the other dogs attention or is alarmed and trying to alert you by barking. schnauzers tend to bark a lot.

IMO, if they have them in your area, get him to an offleash park and socialize him a bit with other dogs.

Thanks for your input, I appreciate it. I want to take him to a park but I'm so worried that he will be aggressive with the other dogs and I won't know what to do. He doesn't always listen to me. He's very pesty when he's trying to play. He sort of jumps up on other dogs and scares them and their owners. I yell at him a lot and chase around after him saying "NO! Stop that!!" I think he will be the worst behaved dog in the park
