My stray kitten(s). We have two now.

You can barely make out the black one in the back, but the two grays are, I believe, father and daughter. Possibly father and son. I think they're the greatest thing in the world while they are of the opinion that I'm some stupid ogre who's trying to get them.

Grunching the thread and taking its title as a suggestion:

I have a 15 year old Maine ****. She has some issues with coughing up hairballs despite medication, but other than that is still going strong and acts like a 20 lb. kitten. Maine ***** make some very strange noises - she has never actually meowed - and her vocal range is impressive.

Maine ***** are easily the best cat breed for a family pet.

Had an interesting time the other night when the dog came back in and started rubbing her face on anything that she could. Within about 30 seconds her face had swollen up massivly making her eye close and her mouth swell (couldnt get a pic as it was dark and crap phone camera) and her whole body came up with these bumps literally all over her body.

It was really horrible as it all happened in a couple of minutes and lasted for a number of hours. we gave her an antihistamine which seemed to help. Last time it happened she was bitten by a millipede which you can see in the bottom picture (Not a **** bottox job).

24 hrs later she was back to normal but id hate to imagine what would happen if it happened when we werent in, she is obviously really allergic to certain things. Can you get pet equivalent of epipens or such like?

We have a dog and two cats, and they pretty much run the household. They were all rescues, they're all awesome and full of personality and totally cool, and I don't really care that they're spoiled. They're loving life.

This thread is probably the feel-good thread of 2+2.

Well, maybe it comes in second to the Doug Lee thread.

Just recently got back from a LV trip. I take my dog to a 'ranch' that also kennels dogs and does dog agility training. They know how easy/cool he is so he gets let out a LOT. He likes it there but they're expensive and they don't even include a bath at the end.

So I take my dog to the groomer a couple days later and when I pick him up the groomer tells me; "He was covered with ticks, we pulled at least 25 off of him. We've never seen ticks on him before." (been using them for ~7 years). Pisses me off! Guess I gotta find a new kennel.

No but you're right I should. I always fog the house when I go on vacation. I also had just put down bug granules in the yard and gave him his monthly Revolution dose just before I left. He virtually never has any fleas/ticks, all that granules/fogging is for yard pests and spiders (I HATE spiders).

'Delouse' implies lice to me, is that necessary with ticks?

What is the fogging you do to get rid of spiders? my g/f would prob pay upwards of a million dollars if it works

It was just the nearest word at hand. De-tick?

Ruxin is always humping his stuffed bear, that is whenever he's not trying to rip it to shreds.. I was laying on the couch, he was doing his usual fight/hump with it and trying to get me to throw it for him.. He finally got tired and got on the couch to lay down.. Looked at him when I got up and this is how he was laying

Had to put my dog/best friend of 11 years down today. He was a pitbull/mastiff mix and I'm heart broken and a complete mess right now. Pretty sad I've been sitting here holding onto his tug rope toy since I returned from the vet. That was the last thing we played with yesterday.

I'm so lost and don't wanna deal with this pain. A few minutes ago I thought I heard him barking and I can't even stand to be in the downstairs part of the house. Kills me I won't ever hear his bark anymore. argggggggggggggggggg

Bummers man, sorry to hear that. It sucks that they have to go so early. Animal lovers have to go through this again and again.

But in the end, what with the fun and love you gain and share, it's still worth it.

Hope you feel better soon.

Ugh, sorry to everyone who's losing their pets lately. We just had one of our cats (Chablis, aka Shambers) put down a week ago because she was 16 years old and had stopped eating and stopped enjoying herself after a very full life of being a serious character.

The cat was staring straight into my eyes as the vet injected her with the anesthetic. It was gut-wrenching watching her just fade away. My wife was weeping.

Our other cat (Gypster, aka Neowmer) and our dog (Mallory, aka Infantchild) were REALLY messed up for a few days, looking all over the house for her. They kept going to the lanai, looking around the pool to see if she was out there, hiding behind a plant or something.

RIP Shambers.

This reminds me in a sad pet way of my ex-wife's grandfather dying suddenly. His dog stayed by his usual chair for days, waiting for his return.

Attack of the killer ant! He attacks the ants and sometimes they bite him on the snout, and refuse to let go.

Your dog is soooooo awesome. I think I'm gonna look into getting a yellow lab once I get over my dog.

Thanks for the condolences. I still can't function right now. Been in rough shape all day.
