I hate the piece I was recording as well, so perfect insight.

Would it be difficult to fake it?

I was under 7,000 lumens of lighting, which translates to about 95 degrees.

I was sitting in an awkward playing position for "aesthetics" while sitting on a chair that isn't particularly comfortable whilst holding my leg up on a footrest.

I was playing on strings that aren't the best (I have a few other packs and will change these out ASAP), had an ear monitor, and was flubbing the recording over and over.

If I was that good, I could win an Oscar.

Bot hooray! It was a major step and I'm glad I got the first one done. I've seen a few YouTube videos that looked super simple where people talked about how many hours it took to make these types of videos. I totally understand what they mean now.

Happy Easter everybody, even you atheists.

Thanks, kioshk. This atheist appreciates the though.

Listening to some Dexter Gordon this sunny Easter Morning. And enjoying a nice cup of coffee. Then I'll go for a easy bike ride, a swim in the pool, and relax in the sun. It's what atheist do on Easter, when vacationing* in the Florida Keys. Obviously God likes me more than He likes, ah, for example - Phat Mack or Dom or Kioshk etc. Why else am I in Paradise and they are not.

Happy Easter to those who do.

this might be the perfect place to present -tangible- evidence that there is a god and the things in the bible are true.
otherwise if there is not proof then why arent more people believing in the easter bunny. as ive them them hopping around. and the tooth fairly has given me money years back.
and santa claus has been proven to be a hoax.

You'll have to hide them Easter Eggs without me today. I'm sticking pretty close to home.

I spent Easter offering to read the bad bits of the scripture to all the customers who came in. I don't know why they don't let me serve tables.

The Keys altered the course of my life in many different ways. Not sure how much of it was good or bad.

I will never go back to Florida unless I have a slot at Ultra. I don't DJ, so that will never happen.

Ham goes with Easter because it is fatty and sweet, two things the pious have been missing after the Lenten fasting, and because it could be preserved through most or all of the fast to Easter.

the keys have the biggest rattle snakes ive ever saw by far. much bigger than zeno is long.

and now florida mostly in the everglades, has giant anacondas that have been let loose from pet owners and are flourishing.

More war stories from recording....

So, I guess having a cheap computer with a ****ty set up isn't the best idea to record with. I talked with someone who knows a lot more about this stuff than I, and it's safe to say that it's going to be quite difficult to get right.

Ideally, you would want to be able to, idk, hear yourself play, not have the monitors sound like you are playing in a cave, with a ton of delaying and echos.

You would also want to record the audio and video separate, then mix everything together. This way, you can do a somewhat proper mix, to some pitch correction, replay a bad part and edit that in, etc.

To get decent quality, you probably want a computer that is less than a few years old, have decent sound cards and video cards, etc. I know this is all common sense, but it's all new to me.

You would also want a half-way decent camera. Using lighting to get up to proper speed isn't exactly a good sign.

You want a pre-amp, that way the monitor can be something external, not a cheap set of ear phones.

All of that isn't reality, lol. Those sound engineer people are worth their weight in gold.

I'm just trying to get things to demo my work, and this is all serving the purpose pretty well, so can't complain. I'm just surprised at how much goes into getting a basic video online. It's truly crazy.

i thought a good camera and mic hooked into your computer gives good results and can be made into a dvd, stick, or put online. perhaps even you cell phone might be good enough
for something that you are not marketing but using to show your work.
04-18-2017 , 03:06 PM
The sound quality on a cell phone is really really bad. I mean, you get the point, but way too much information is lost. I also live in a noisy area.

The recordings themselves are turning out okay. The problem is not being able to hear myself through the monitor, mix down the sounds, and stuff like that. Plus, I just hate recording in general, so any reason to complain is good enough for me.
