new go-to for frozen lunch.

Central Market - Massaman Curry Chicken

rice comes out fluffy. curry is mildly spicy enough for good flavor, but not enough to make you sweat through your work clothes.

(I've tried some of the other frozen dishes in this family and did not care for them, only this one)

Stouffer's has been the gold standard in frozen foods for years. I think they're a little overpriced these days, but you know what you're getting and that's not to be sneered at. You get that big mac and cheese for under 3 bucks and eat it up, you're happy.

except stouffers is nowhere remotely close to 'relatively healthy'

eh I guess that's relative. Like would some 3rd world kid in Somali turn up his nose at some hot Stouffer's Mac and Cheese, I doubt that.

And even a 1st world person wouldn't be killed by it. Probably not change their lives at all.

many if not most of those cheap frozen dinners are made in china.

i was hungry at a poker game not too far back and only a mini mart with a microwave was open so i checked out what they had. wow a frozen giant name brand turkey dinner. when i was a kid. so i grabbed it and read the ingredients as i do with all things i eat. it didnt have any turkey in it. it had reconstituted chicken fat, and no turkey. along with a list of chemicals.

if i must i will get amy,s or something from the health food store organic and with top ingredients.
i like their shrimp scampi. big, plump shrimp in a buttery sauce with pasta, it is a little pricey though

the only one i really like of these is the chicken margaritta with balsalmic vinegar. they are only $2.50, pretty cheap. also, they are always out of them at the walmart grocery store i go to. i'm lucky to find them every other trip there.

I had the Boston Market sweet and sour chicken the other day, was ok. Nothing special. The best of those is the Country Fried Steak and the Chicken Parmesan, without question.

I thought they made them in Boston, at a market there. That's disillusioning.

But this meal was half rice anyway, I figure they know their rice. I'll allow it.

The Chinese are good at walls too, we might want to cozy up to them a little here.

I is remiss of all of us that we have neglected to mention frozen grandma in the basement freezer. Unthaw that old hag and throw her on the BBQ. Use plenty of sauce.

Just ran across a new frozen dinner at Walmart, from a company called Kahiki. It's chicken pad thai with a full egg roll, not bad at all for less than $2.50. Remembering the term "relative" in the thread title, the numbers aren't so horrible, 510 calories, sodium under 1000, protein 16, fat 14. Filling too, as these things go. Now if only the egg roll were crisper!

Oh and my HEB now has an HEB chicken enchiladas verdes frozen dinner w rice and beans that's 1st ballot HoF with me, solid flava, 350 calories, 800 sodium, 18 protein, 11 fat etc. All for $2.68 or so. HEB ftw obviously.
