Rounders was definitely the best unfortunately there haven't been to many good poker movies

I guess its not really a poker movie, most of the poker scenes are just Deano sitting there flipping a pack of cards, but, the title, and the game getting smaller and smaller with each murder, I had to include it.

Not a problem - too many suggestions is better than not enough! .

I watched Kaleidoscope and thought it was fine. As the other poster said there's only one poker scene in it at the end. Nothing spectacular but sufficiently entertaining.

I found The Music of Chance painful to watch. I've seen other people praise Spader and Patinkin's acting, the cinematography, the metaphors for life yada yada yada but all I saw was a couple of greedy punks who got what they deserved.

Halfway into California Split as I type this. I need to watch more movies from the early 70s - the style and the mannerisms are truly unique and interesting. I'll post more when I have a chance to finish it.

Every time I watch one from the 1930s im left (surprisingly) saying to myself "wow why cant all movies today be like this".

For a great blackjack movie, how about Bette Midler and Rip Torn in Jinxed? I LOVED that movie, I couldn't stop watching it!

2001's Finders Fee starring James Earl Jones, Ryan Reynolds and Matthew Lillard is more a suspense-thriller, but has a couple poker scenes.

Jinxed sounds interesting, I feel jinxed but not like I cant lose, like I cant win.

I couldn't disagree more. I could not believe I actually finished it. In fact, this is my go-to answer when people ask "What is the worst poker related movie ever?".

Momentarily jumping off the topic of poker movies, if you haven't seen Fritz Lang's Metropolis, you should rent it from Netflix. It's from 1927 but a legitimate case could be made that it's the best movie ever. 1933's King Kong is also an absolute masterpiece.

I just watched Born to Gamble on YouTube. GREAT movie! Reminded me of Citizen Kane for its ability to tell a story. Yes, I thought it was that good. I wish that movie could be remade so that we could watch it with higher-quality audio.

I wouldn't call it a poker movie. It's more of a portrait of what can happen to a family in which gambling addiction runs. I mean that as neither a positive nor a negative, just pointing out that I wouldn't lump it in with Rounders, Deal, Lucky You et al.

Did you get a chance to watch Metropolis?

Mississippi Grind is NOT what I would consider a poker movie, but it was good.

I enjoyed it as well. I could definately relate with Jerry when that Queen hit the River.

Cool Hand Luke....Paul Newman, not a poker movie at all, a prison movie but the memorable poker scene accounts for the movie's title and the famous tag line.

There are two movies available on Netflix Streaming that I hadn't noticed before. One is called Cold Deck starring one of the guys from the Sopranos. I'd give it a 4 out of 10. Poker is only marginally featured. Nothing in it I haven't seen in 100 other gambling movies.

There's also one called Casino Jack starring Kevin Spacey. Haven't watched it yet but it looks more about gambling than poker.

A documentary about Daniel Negraneu (I know I spelled it wrong and I don't care) was, from what I understand, *just* added to Netflix instant. You have to search for KidPoker without the space. Haven't watched it yet - will post a review when I do.
