Dave McNally of the Baltimore Orioles was the only pitcher to ever hit a grand slam in a World Series game (1970 Game 3). The only reason this sticks out in my mind is that I was in attendance.

This was a good one. I remember that MLB was promoting the hell out of the upcoming 1 millionth run and that scoreboards throughout the league would keep a running tally as the number drew closer.

Maine: As the crow flies, is 250 miles from Kittery to Lubec, the southern most and northern most seacoast cities.
There are 3500 miles of coastline.
and only 30 miles of sandy beach. Rock on!

Boston is the windiest city in the country with an average wind speed of 12.4 mph.

stats are old and a bit foggy, don't go all nit on them....

Sitting on someones chest until they suffocate is called "Burking" them, and is named after a guy named Burke (forget his first name) who was part of a duo of ne'erdowells in Britain who would kill visitors to their hotel and sell their bodies to the local medical school as cadavers. Burke (or his partner) was eventually found guilty and was ordered to death, at which time his body was donated to science. His skeleton still exists on display somewhere, I think in Scotland.

Sorry the details suck I'm going off memory. This information is in the book Stiff, but I originally learned it as part of a Halloween gross anatomy lecture during first year.

This was mentioned in "Positively Fifth Street". I'm pretty sure you need to do more than just sit on their chest (such as "block the victim's nose and mouth").

There are 3 fruits native to the U.S.: blueberries, cranberries, and concord grapes.

It's (legally) impossible for alfalfa sprouts to be certified organic. Since alfalfa harbors e coli so easily, it must be washed in water with a high concentration of chlorine. And this amount of chlorine exceeds the USDA's legal limit for organic certification.

Until 35,000 feet where it levels out at -70F

LOL, that's where I first heard of this as well. From what I remember the Binion murder was a bit more interesting for a number of other reason as well.
