it's totally disingenuous to even bring it up like it's relevant to the conversation.
Okay, I get it. LOTR books were so huge, HUGE, that everything else is nothing. Makes the Bourne movies so much better having success without such an unfair advantage.

Bourne movies were a massive success because they were terrific movies. That they were based on a preexisting property helped get them made but sold almost no tickets.

Harry Potter & LOTR were the probably the 2 biggest non-comic preexisting properties since Gone with the Wind. People had been trying to buy LOTR rights for decades.

I find the second statement dubious. Of course there's no way to quantify this, at least that I know of.

so what is your best guess as to how many tickets were sold as a direct result of the books?

how many ppl do u think only saw the film cuz they liked the book?
don't back down with some bs excuse for why u can't assign a number, I want to see what ur talking about here.

Not a plot hole but in The Fugitive when the Marshals arrive "our fugitive has been on the run for 90 minutes"...yet there are already 50 people on site repairing damaged tracks and using cutting torches. The rail yard full of repairmen and tools must have been next door and fully staffed at night.

Raiders of the Lost Ark

Ok, so the Nazis couldn't find the ark, until Indy dug in the right place, the Nazis find out, and Indy and Marion get thrown into the Well of Souls.

When they break out of the Well of Souls, by pushing the big stone from the pyramid, they are looking right at the Nazi camp. I think at some point, someone from the Nazi camp might've said "Hey, shouldn't we try digging where ze big pyramid is?"

pretty convenient how as soon as you got called out to back up your absurd position with some concrete numbers all of a sudden ur above the petty argument that you started in the first place with a totally absurd and unnecessary interjection.

The Rock

So Sean Connery broke out of prison, and now they want him to break back in. To breakout, he studied the pattern of the furnace and rolled his way to freedom. Now to break back in, he does the same thing in reverse, and then opens up a door for the rest of the crew.

My question is this. How come he didn't just open the door when he was breaking out, instead of rolling thru the furnace?
