Pick 5

There's a character in the book, Angus Glass, who is a career student whose thesis is if he watched The Honeymooners 24/7 long enough, the characters will become real.

Obviously

A Naked Singularity
Linklater
Oscar Isaac
Downey Jr., Woody
Vampire Weekend

Qiwi Lin Lisolet starts the journey to the Spider system as a teenager, the daughter of one of the senior captians of the Qeng Ho fleet. She's a tomboy, brilliant and always underfoot, causing trouble and sticking her nose where it doesn't belong. Think a space age Arya Stark.

After the battle between the Qeng Ho and the Emergents, she becomes a crucial link between Thomas Nau, the Emergent leader, and the Qeng Ho survivors, who Nau needs to complete the mission. The charismatic Nau manipulates and seduces Qiwi (grossssssssssss, it's awful seriously).

We need someone attractive, spunky, sympathetic, and who can play a pretty wide range of ages, from say 16 to mid-late twenties. So, I'll pick

Spoiler:

Fake Padame aka Kiera Knightley, age 19

Let's see what some of the other cast members think about this:

Spoiler:

Book: Deepness in the Sky
Director: James Cameron
Pham Nuwen: Bryan Cranston
Score: Aaron Copland
Thomas Nau: 40ish Patrick Steward
Qiwi Lin Lisolet: 19-year-old Kiera Knightley

Blood Meridian would seem especially pertinent with the entire ISIS situation in Iraq

Not trying to politard this thread, but I always think of the Mennonite:

"The wrath of God lies sleeping. It was hid a million years before men were and only men have power to wake it. Hell aint half full. Hear me. Ye carry war of a madman’s making onto a foreign land. Ye’ll wake more than the dogs. "

You guys doin the movie better nail that chapter!

Legit did not realize that books which have already been made into films could be picked, that would have made this much easier had I bothered to sign up

Great read so far though guys

Senor isn't Qiwi supposed to be short and very thick, being from a heavy gravity world?

Not sure, haven't read it in a few years. I'll just change it to a low gravity world. Full of super hot Natalie Portman lookalikes.

Down the road it might be fun where everyone uses the same book. That would be better in many ways.

I'm considering turning my adaptation of blood meridian into a musical comedy (it would still be super faithful to the book n have all the violence, there would just be a lot of singing n dancing, and like when the Indians are raping the soldiers as they lay dying both the Indians n soldiers will be singing).

think spring time for Hitler.

dominik is resistant to the idea but I'm making some pretty convincing arguments and Javier has always wanted to sing n dance so he's into it.

I'll let you guys know if we can get dominik on board.

Weird rule; but if you say so, then that's sufficient enough.

The Bible will have a musical/dance ending and similar to Blazing Saddles.

For the role of Froggy Ogden, I'll choose John Turturro.

That leaves me at:

Novel - Appointment in Samarra
Director - Lawrence Kasdan - Director
Cinematographer: John Alonzo

Roles:
Julian English - James Spader
Caroline English - Kathleen Turner
Froggy Ogden - John Turturro

and I'll pm mrbaseball, bc: riverboat king and I'm off to play poker for the day.
