This is a new one I like, this old gruff guy named Chico. He lives in Florida with his dog Rufus, who often starts howling during the reviews. Chico is all about trying really cheap frozen foods. Here he takes on a $1 Banquet dinner. He's kinda charming in an understated way. Fairly slow-paced tho, I usually skip to the middle where he's tasting them.
Here's a new favorite of mine, Happy Man. He keeps it real with the backwards cap and the "street" vernacular, but he's also quite articulate about what he likes in each review. And his taste is always excellent. He strikes a nice balance between the over-enthusiastic cheerleading reviewer fools and the weirdo introverted goofballs who lack charisma. I like Happy Man's style, plus I think he's usually baked.
This guy is pretty interesting, Robert Dyer. He's obviously a geeky misfit, but he plays it with a knowing wink. He has a hilarious way of emphasizing the word "welcome" when he starts. Also he has an wacky alter-ego, Tarnation Bob, who will appear in the middle of every review and cause hi-jinx. He's mostly fast food, but some junk food and frozen food too. Here's his take on Pringle's chicken taco flavor.
Notice the festive snowmen wallpaper that always serves as his backdrop.
Here is a touching episode of Happy Man Snacks. I've sure you've noticed he always wears a backward SF Giants cap. He lives in Minnesota now, but here he goes back home to watch a Giants game with his dad. They buy incredibly overpriced food (2 beers and fries for $31!) and also some very good hot dogs.
And he gets his dad to say "bangin'." It's really nice, seriously. Going home and taking dad to a ballgame.
I really liked this. The contrast from the loud music before they fry to the quiet serious analysis of the result really works. The first guy, the wiry bearded guy, seems especially good.
They're getting a helluva lot of views too, from the looks of it. Up around 100k to 200k, that's excellent.
This is my new favorite youtube food reviewer. She's one of those ASMR people, whispers while she eats delicious food. I find it all strangely compelling, although the ASMR whispering does nothing for me. This chick is sexy as hell and has a wicked sense of humor to boot. And great taste in food! Here she eats some potato tacos. SassEsnacks!
thethethe, I think I'll take the lovely SassEsnacks over those Korean chicks.
btw, I now realize that Trey from Happy Man Snacks doesn't just call black guys brother, he calls literally every man brother. He's a good guy, very friendly with his subscribers. So is SassE, for that matter.
I've got a new one lately, a heavy-set guy named Bob who is so inarticulate in describing his food that he's almost profound. Kind of a zen thing he's got going on. And he keeps taking bites mid-sentence!
Another cool thing is that he's always got this unseen friend sitting next to him in the car, but he never shows him or acknowledges him, so strange! His catch phrase that he uses at least twice every episode is "Right back at you!", which honestly doesn't make a lot of sense.
I present to you, Food Use! Here Bob tries out a big Five Guys burger.
Bump for my latest discovery, a duo coming out of Minnesota called So Awkward. They do live up to their name at times, some uncomfortable lulls in there. But that just adds to the dramatic tension. They don't do many fast food reviews, but they do review snacks from time to time. Also movies. Don is the man, he's the star of the show and the driving force behind So Awkward. Got a great dry wit about him. His sidekick is his best friend Jester, a woman. She's hard to please. I believe they work together at a small brewery.
Great thread BTW. I'm a big fan of the Eater channel, especially the Meat Show. It not only showcases certain foods and restaurants, but the thought process and the behind the scenes of how meat is prepared and served. The way this guy orders his burgers is definitely in line with my own habits.
