Re: Movies you HATE (even irrationally)

Yeah I knew this thread was a repeat, and dammit, I still can't think of a movie that I HATE. And I hate a lot of stuff so that's weird.

I might just say Wes Anderson-type movies, even if I haven't seen them. Seeing a movie poster is enough for me to know I hate it. Like the Darjeeling Limited, for example. His titles tend to be long and obnoxious, and he likes to cast guys with gigantic noses who are dressed like hipster ******s who do stupid white things. I'm guessing.

Fantastic Mr. Fox was pretty well done though. But yeah any Wes Anderson movie or stuff like I Heart Huckabees (anything with Jason Schwartzman - sorry Rushmore). All that stupid coming-of-age emo crapola is just terrible, cheap film-making. Eternal Sunshine, Little Ms. Sunshine, etc. Burn it all. The last decade has been riddled with lame scripts centered around 11 different completely uninteresting characters. I hope this "style" leaves us soon, it's like the disco era for films. White people out-thinking themselves.

I didn't like Midnight in Paris much but after I saw it a few more times (it's always on TV) it has grown on me, it has a certain charm to it.

I'm amazed that there are people who don't at least like Midnight in Paris. It's such a clever, fun, little froth of a film.

This movie is confirmed awful but so is everything Aranofsky has made.

Oh yeah I hate Adam Sandler with a passion. He's a disgrace to humanity at this point. How much money is enough, Adam? I used to love that guy but now he's persona non grata in my household.

I think Avatar is a boring over hyped POS movie. The effects were kind of cool but the plot/story has been done a million times. It's not the movie I was expecting after reading reviews and hearing about it.

I give Sandler a pass because of his wonderful performance in Punch-Drunk Love. That movie alone is enough to make me hope until his death for him to finally give a repeat performance.

We should do a 'get out of jail' thread - single performances by actors or directors that gets them forgiveness for life, no matter what else they do.

Re: Movies you HATE (even irrationally)

Sidney Poitier couldn't excuse Jack and Jill with his best performance. Not to mention the laundry list of horrific "films" Adam Sandler has generated the last 12 years. The guy is terrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrible and sells another piece of his dignity, $20 million at a time.

Present this to Sandler and he'll green light it:

"So you play this Jewish guy who used to get picked on because he was - wait for it - Jewish. So you have this huge inferiority complex. Cut to, years later and you are a successful doctor/architect/surgeon/Hollywood agent - whatever - something totally unbelievable for you. You have a gigantic house and bratty kids yet you still portray yourself to be some down-to-Earth cool guy. Your wife or love interest is ****ING HOT bro. You spend the film shooting hoops and wearing a Yankees hat and telling endless number of lies to your wife and kids because you are everybody's protector and you know best. The film will have a string of obnoxious scenes in which a bunch of your real-life friends will make cameos and further destroy their careers. Some dilemma emerges and yadda yadda you win the town over by playing basketball and making the winning shot later on. Everyone loves you, Adam, I mean...your character. We'll spent 60 million, 58 of which is on salaries, and it'll make 300 million because people are absolutely retarded. What say you, Adam?"

"I already made that movie. But I like it - let's do it again. Can we get Kate Upton? She'd date me, right?"

"S-sure..... yeah I think we can get her for 10 mil."

"Let's DO IT!"

I saw Lord of the Rings although I thought they were only okay at best. I have stayed as far away from Harry Potter, Avatar, and Twilight as I can get.

Since you didn't mention Twilight I assume they must be some of your favorites
