I watched maybe the worst TV show Ive ever seen tonight.

Alf's Very Special Christmas.

A christmas show about a suicidal widower and a dying little girl? Really?

They even put a memorial for the girl on the end credits...

It was ghastly

I hope this doesnt completely put me off Alf forever.

A ton of people off themselves around the holidays. And then again circa January 21st. Big spikes in self-termination.

Re: Movies you HATE (even irrationally)

I can only think of one movie that I hated such that I actually walked out on it: The Fifth Element.

Other:

I think movie buffs like to point out how un-great Shawshank for the same reasons that people say "oh I don't watch tv." It makes them feel superior. By no means is Shawshank a great film. It is, however, hugely entertaining to watch, as evidenced by the fact that about 73.275% of all people in the US think it's a Top 5 Movies Ever film. Also, the fact that Tom Hanks beat out Morgan Freeman for Best Actor that year is a travesty IMO. Forrest Gump was a unique, interesting, entertaining screenplay, and Hanks did a fine job with it. Best Actor? Come on...

I don't see how anyone who actually likes movies could not like Pulp Fiction, The Wrestler, or Shawshank for that matter. I mean, unless by "liking movies" you mean "if it has tits and explosions, count me in."

I haven't seen an Aronofsky movie that I didn't like.

Savages sucked. I have no idea why I had high hopes.

Here's one that will get me some "you're an idiot" responses: I think that Monty Python and the Holy Grail is The Best Comedy, ever. I think "Blazing Saddles" is just as terrible as every other Mel Brooks movie.

I hate The Final. This is a horror movie that wasn't scary, it was straight out boring, and the "scary things" that were supposed to happen were totally overdrawn in the trailer.

I say this often, and I mean it. I don't watch TV, but I don't mean I don't use it. I don't watch general entertainment shows on my TV. I watch the news sometimes and maybe some sporting events and history/sci fi channel, sparingly. The TV is mostly for guests or my wife.

And yeah, when I see the stuff my wife watches on TV, it does make me feel superior. Anyone who spends more than 10 minutes of their life on "real housewives of New Jersey" deserves to get jabbed a little bit.

I've never heard Shawshank called "hugely entertaining" before. This praise is getting out of hand. At some point I have to wonder if society is trolling me the last 18 years.

It is an entertaining, feel-good movie, in which none of the characters age. That's basically it.

Pulp Fiction's a well-made post-modern collage. Anyone who derives deep intellectual afflatus from it has pimples, imo.

hahaha that works for me and using tht thought process I will no longer include that movie in this list for me. It is a fun movie for what it is.

I always thought Pulp Fiction was very meh. I don't really hate it, but I just can't ever figure out why its so loved.
