The Tenant, Rosemary's Baby, and Knife in the Water are very very good. Also, Cul-de-Sac and The Fearless Vampire Killers are pretty good too. And yeah, Chinatown and Repulsion are must sees.

According to Roman Polanski: Wanted and Desired, he was still haunted by baseless innuendo that he was somehow involved with the Manson family murder of his wife and friends.

Rosemary's baby was pretty good. That reminds me that John Cassavetes is another career i need to delve into.

seen 'em all, I highly recommend anything directed by that man. Though a few of them weren't all that special, most were pretty phenomenal.

Harry Brown - I lost interest after bout 20 minutes and continued passively watching. I am pretty sure this movie openly advocates murderous vigilantism. You do get to witness Michael Caine putting the smack down on some punk ass kids, if that helps. 5/10

The Decent: Part 2 is clearly a money grab sequel from the very good original movie but isn't as bad as I anticipated. It's not good, but it's not Wrong Turn 2, or Hostel 2, either. 5/10

In comparison, I watched a movie called Chain Letter the same day about a psycho who kills people when they refuse to forward chain mail. Truly horrible movie, but at least you get to see someone get their head cut in half with a chain and other such murders, so at least it lives up to what you can expect from such a movie.

I can appreciate the movie was made with a small budget, but the title Monsters is extremely misleading, and I don't think this is going to be what most people are expecting when they decide to watch such a movie. I just felt I had to say this so that people don't get extremely disappointed if they decide to watch it, like I was.
Not sure why a movie being different than what you expect makes it less enjoyable.

I'm actually glad it wasn't another mindless monster movie and found it pretty enjoyable and there were actual much more tense moments for me than all the other monster flicks i can think of right now. It was a little slow but that didn't bother me... but i guess if you are one of those people that sit there screaming at your tv " COME ON BLOW HIS HEAD OFF " then it would be disappointing that monsters aren't running around eating everyone.

Good movie if you aren't one of those people who always needs stuff to be happening to be able to pay attention to the movie and enjoy it.

I personally have to be in the mood to watch certain genres of movies, so I'm always going to be disappointed when that movie fits in to a different genre than I was expecting. For example , if I put on Requiem for a Dream expecting it to be an uplifting comedy, I'm going to be disappointed no matter how good the movie may be.

That's a pretty extreme example, but you get my point. I don't need stuff to be constantly happening to enjoy a movie, but I like to know what I'm getting into before I sit down to watch it.

I expected Monsters to be pretty action-packed and to see a ton of monsters causing havoc after reading it's synopsis, so naturally I'm going to be disappointed when you barely see a monster throughout the entire movie, and when you do, they don't do anything.

For me, there was not one tense moment the entire way and nothing to really snap back from zoning out for most of it. I'm glad you liked it, but I thought I should tell people what to expect before they watch it. I mean, how disappointed would you be if you watched Zombieland and the only zombie you saw was just chilling back eating a sandwich?

Exit Through The Gift Shop - Moderately entertaining doc, but I don't get what all the fuss is about. Maybe I'll wade through that dedicated thread and see what subtleties I must have missed. Or not. 3/5

I want to watch more Irons and Skolimowski films. I'm not too familiar with either, really.
I quite liked The French Lieutenant's Woman, as well as Knife In The Water, fwiw. What should be at the top of the list?
Haven't seen any Skolimowski films except for Moonlightlighting. Irons is great in Reversal of Fortune, and if I ever have the chance to write "You have no idea" as a response, imagine it voiced by Irons playing Claus Von Bulow.
