Re: Movies: What have you seen lately - part 2
Transcendent Man - Amazing documentary about Ray Kurzweil, an inventor and futurist, and his ideas about the technology singularity as well other future ideas.
Highly recommend. Has interviews with many qualified individuals, both who support his ideas and skeptics.

I know this film is considered iconic, and one of Newman's greatest performances, but i did not enjoy it as much as i thought i would. There are some memorable scenes and lines but i do not think Newman's character is developed enough, i think some flashbacks to earlier parts of his life would have worked well. This has been compared to One Flew over the cuckoo's nest, the supporting cast in that film was far superior, each with a unique personality 6/10

Re: Movies: What have you seen lately - part 2
today i have watched
My Man Godfrey (Criterion)
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0028010/
I do find these screwball comedies immensely entertaining and this is no exception. I see what the older generation mean when they say "they don't make them like this any more". The part of Godfrey who i now know as William Powell might just be one of my favourite performance's

Re: Movies: What have you seen lately - part 2
I caught Moonrise Kingdom... I found it quite good, but not WA's best effort. I keep wanting to see the magic and balance I experienced in The Royal Tenenbaums, but it still eludes me.
never the less, Moonrise Kingdom is definitely a multiple viewing movie

Re: Movies: What have you seen lately - part 2
I watched Tiny Furniture, the Lena Dunham movie that got her the Girls show. It was a lot like Girls. Funny smart dialog, but I can imagine people hating it intensely. These rich entitled whiny kids etc. Sort of like a thirtysomething for hipster Tribeca 20-somethings in the 2010's.

Just watched Drive and enjoyed it a lot. It reminded me of Thief, which I'm sure other people here have already said. Ending seemed a little off but still very good.

Re: Movies: What have you seen lately - part 2
today i have watched
A Dangerous Method
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1571222/
I was drawn to this film by the talent involved, David Cronenberg, Michael Fassbender, Keira Knightley, Viggo Mortensen. Impressive performances, beautifully shot, midly intresting subject matter. 6/10
The Killing (Criterion)
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0049406/
One Of Kubrick's earlier films. I think the disjointed narrative robs the film of any real suspense. Memorable final scene though. It's no Rififi 6/10
