Yeah, it's a shame those two psychopathic serial killers are gone.

At least back then you didn't have gangs of scum robbing old pensioners and no go zones in London.

...Are those two situations my only choices?

Terminator isn't bad at all... somewhat convoluted timeline but ultimately it makes sense. I loved the very short young versus old fight scene, and all the origin story anchors that makes this movies ulterior timeline story, work.

By the commercials, it would seem the special effects were sub par... I assure you they are state of the art. I assume most of the young terminator is all computer generated.

That lead actor is a POS though, everyone else in the movie... including arnold... can actually act. Sarah conner lead is wonderful, and hot.

I think this is a very worthy successor to the original two movies... and in many ways is superior, though not as original.

Thanks for that MS.

Yeh I was keen as for the new Terminator - I watched all 4...even salvation just recently.

Just hoping the reviews will get better on Rotten Tomatoes...

I mean, its a terminator movie... not hamlet.

The first trailer for terminator genysis had me giddy and crazy pumped.

The trailer I saw before Jurassic World made me cringe. With that review I'm pumped again.

It denotes the photographic technique of taking a sequence of frames at set intervals to record changes that take place slowly over time. When the frames are shown at normal speed the action seems much faster.

But that's not important right now.

Time Piece is a pretty damn good short, by the late genius Jim Henson

uses some time lapse!

lol i know that i just hoped the new one would be up in the clouds with the first two.

Not down in the depths of a shi t ridden toilet like Salvation...

I actually just watched Time Lapse yesterday... Questionable premise, interesting plot, forgetful ending. Overall disappointing, yet entertaining for a sci-fy buff like me.

I like every Terminator. Even 3 and Salvation. Loved The Sarah Conner Chronicles. I'm almost guaranteed to like this one.

Lost in America Amusing little comedy about a couple that sell everything to drop out and travel America.

I suspect that your enjoyment level will depend a lot on how much you like Albert Brooks and his particular sense of humor. I like him so I liked the movie.

Saw Jurassic World last night. Too long, too gory, and had a sense of been there, done that.

Interesting little indie sci fi flick, not near the level of Primer or Time Crimes, but for a sci fi fanatic like myself it was quite enjoyable.

I find that Coherence and Predestination were WAY better as recent time travel movies, but still enjoyed Time Lapse, despite its mediocrity.

Just finished Timbuktu

which is a nice little discovery. Deliberate, picturesque, graceful, yet not always enthralling.

Completely agree about Coherence and Predestination, loved both, especially Coherence.

This is my favorite movie of the year so far. It is the best pixar movie, and that's saying a lot, as I loved Monster's Inc, Up, and Wall-E. This is a movie that really took a big chance, and succeeded beyond any animated film I've ever seen. This is a movie that will be loved by 5 year olds and 35 year olds for very different reasons.

On the surface, it's a gorgeous movie, beautifully animated, with a lot of vibrant colors, adorable characters, and great voice acting. The kids will love a lot of the sight gags, and will be happy to collect these characters from Happy Meals.

The story is very deep, dark, and heartbreaking. I'm getting teared up just thinking back on it. For those who don't know the plot, you are following Riley, and 11 year old girl who was just moved to San Francisco from Minnesota, and is dealing with the sudden change in her life. To deal with it, she has her emotions inside her head, personified by Joy (Amy Poehler), Anger (the comic relief Lewis Black), Sadness (the true star of the movie Phyllis from The Office), Fear (the underused Bill Hader), and Disgust (Mindy Kaling). Through a comedy of errors, Joy and Sadness get separated from the command center and have to find their way back. While gone, Anger, fear, and disgust are running the show, and aren't doing a great job of it. Through their adventure, Joy and Sadness end up in Riley's subconscious, dream world, long term memory, and a few other areas that are depicted very cleverly. To help them out, they enlist Riley's old imaginary friend (voiced by Richard Kind) to help them navigate back to command center.

It was pretty incredible how they really captured a lot of the emotions we all have gone through. Riley experiences depression, rage, and many other common emotions in a very non-Disneylike (that's a compliment) way, and doesn't water it down for the audiences. There are a few scenes that I dare you not to tear up at, as they hit home for anyone who has gone through an awkward adolescence.

The other characters in the movie are not just cookie cutter stereotypes, and have their own emotions working things out. One very interesting decision is that while Joy runs the show for Riley, Anger runs dad's head, and even more surprisingly Sadness seems to be the head of the command center for mom (though they all seem equally represented). There's a hilarious montage at the end where they enter the heads of several other characters, my favorite being the bus driver
Spoiler:
He has five Angers running his head
.

The moral of the story I think is fairly accessible to kids, but will be more impactful for adults. The cathartic release towards the end is perfectly done, and will be remembered on the same level as the first 10 minutes of "Up."

I recommend this movie for everybody, not just those of us with kids. The 3-D isn't totally necessary, but the big screen is. Go see this movie and thank me later.
This really is a great review and I wanted to feel the same way it just didn't happen.

Watched Monsters INC for the first time last night.

Its a fun cute movie, but not close to the best of Pixar that imo and with a couple films yet to be seen seems to be Toy Story and Toy Story 3.

Really liked the concept and the animation on this one, not so much the story (specially last scene) but it had some pretty hilarious moments and served its function of cheering up a rainy day.
