Mr. Rudolpho's Jubilee (2017)

I'm not sure where you might be able to see this. The director/producer are a married couple and they travel around being hippies and doing music and making movies. It's a pretty polished movie considering with a big cast and a few different locations. Mostly they show in Europe, but I saw it at a house party (pop-up cinema).

It was good. The plot is thrillerish or something, but it's a comedy. Wes Andersonish. I don't want to oversell it. There were imperfections, but for a very small independent film it was very good and the director and producer were very nice.

It'll be on itunes at least.

Re: Movies: Talk About What You've Seen Lately--Part 3

Dunkirk was... eh.

There is really not much to sink your teeth into.... characters, dialog, storytelling are just plain... well... plain. The only thing there is, is the technical acheivement... and it's so conventional, like the movies effects, its underwhelming.

I am extremely Luke warm on this movie and I thought it suffered greatly from many continuity errors... that is until you realize the movie is jumping around the three stories in different time signatures until the end of the movie. The movie also had severe issues with a very sterile look and feel... not lush and filled with period detail.

I am thankful for the one redeeming scene Where Someone is captured.

Dunkirk in 70mm was amazing. Somehow both over-powering and understated at the same time. Loved the structure and music.

Re: Movies: Talk About What You've Seen Lately--Part 3

Watched Alien and Aliens back to back and really enjoyed them. I had never seen them before. I had seen bits and pieces of Alien over the years but never from start to finish. Not really a fan of the SciFi genre but these were pretty good.

Aliens was a very solid sequel. I have Alien 3 and Alien Resurrection on deck but I am expecting a quality dip as these are probably pure money grabs.

I also recently watched Passengers which I also thought was alright. Pretty sure it got lots of hate here? I don't really like that doofus from Parks and Rec and think Jennifer whatshername is 100% overrated but still enjoyed the movie.

Alien 3 and Resurrection are bad. 3 I'd say isn't worth watching at all. Resurrection has at least a couple of memorable scenes in it though.

Alien is better, but Aliens is a nearly perfect action movie. It is just that Alien is an even more perfect horror movie. Sometimes I would rather watch an action movie, however.

I'm like this with Terminator 1 and 2.

The Terminator is about as perfect as low budget b-movies get.

I liked Alien because it had a strong female villain without being misogynist about it.

What makes you think the villain in Alien was female?
