Craig is my favorite Bond, but man I really feel like the franchise needs new a new 007.
08-17-2017 , 09:47 AM
Thought I read years ago that Idris Elba was going to be the new bond.

Next Bond needs to be black or brown. Gay would be good too, a woman even better. Bond needs to look like the world, keep up with the times.

black lesbian Bond would seriously trigger some alt-right types, I'm all for it.

Cloud Atlas was pretty great. Kept me completely engaged throughout. Def recommended.

I love Cloud Atlas, but it seems like opinions on it are very polarized. I found the individual narratives compelling and thought the overarching evolution of souls was a cool way of tying things together.

Glad you enjoyed it!

This is one I wish I had seen in theaters. I loved the score and can only imagine how much it would be improved in theaters.

Rente Kong skull island at redbox. Highly recommend. Probably the best movie I watched this summer. Don't know how I missed it in the theater.

My 3 year old is into it so I see some of it like 4 times a week. It is a lot better than I thought it was going to be and thank goodness it is rewatchable. He loves Kong vs helicopters.

Watched Alien:Covenant, eh, but a question

Spoiler:
The twist you see a mile away but what was the point of David letting the 2 fight the Alien? I guess because the alien needs to feed the next 7 years before they get to the colony?

Icarus is a fascinating doc on the Russian sports doping scandal before the Rio Olympics. It begins as a vehicle for Bryan Vogel - who is an amateur cyclist and filmmaker - decides he wants to see how doping can affect his performance in a French amateur cycling race...and then he'd report on the results. He gets put in touch with the head of the Russian anti-doping program, who is funny, gregarious guy who thinks it's a funny idea, but he agrees to help him.

Well, that Russian becomes - in the course of the movie - the central figure in the Russian doping scandal. It begins a little slow but then ramps up to a ridiculous James bond-like spy thriller, with the Russian scientist on the run fro his life fro the nefarious Russian gov't.

Great stuff. You can see it on Netflix.

They're doing a remake of Papillon?

I watched Icarus last night as well, thought it was very very interesting. The Russian guy being absolutely hilarious was a nice bonus.

Demolition

Very good beginning, bit of a weak middle and 2-3 twist at the end, which I liked.
Solid movie, amazing acting again by Jake Gyllenhaal. What an actor. Hoping Nocturnal Animals is.better though.

7/10

nocturnal animals was fantastic and michael shannon was phenomenal.

Room This is one of those movies I really don't want to reveal anything about. I think it's better to go in knowing nothing.

I will say the subject matter is tough to watch.

I sort of thought it was heading in one direction, but it ended up being a very complex exploration of the situation as well as the aftermath, and the effects on everyone involved.

Extremely well done. I highly recommend.

Nocturnal animals is much better than demolition

- western countries

Just got back from my annual golf trip with my old college buddies. One night after golf after getting cleaning up and BBQing some dinner we all grabbed our cocktail of choice and settled in for a night of card playing (Euchre not Poker) and slid a movie into the DvD player.

The movie was Beer League which gets a 5/5 from me.

In this particular context Beer league might just be the greatest movie ever made. Stupid, sophomoric, raunchy and totally hilarious. In other situations it may lose some points But when with a group of lifelong friends who came of age together 45 years ago watch it this might just be the perfect movie.
