Or as the hero is fighting 15 guys, the bad guy standing behind him always waits for the the hero to turn around.

in almost every teeny movie made since 1985 we have a criminal, a jock, a princess, a nerd and a basket case.

Re: Movie Cliches
The black guy is the first to die... and the level-headed white hot-girl is the only survivor.

Re: Movie Cliches
moralistic crap in the end, some person makes hard but integer choice and gets rewarded for it and having the bad guy win so often!

Re: Movie Cliches
a good guy sees a bad guy and yells his name so that the chase can begin when he could just sneak behind his back without the bad guy ever noticing him

Re: Movie Cliches
Rocky franchise cliches:
Start with 90 minutes and work backwards. Include (not listed in order):
5 minutes: Re-cap of previous movie fight.
5 minute training montage
10 minute training montage
5 minute family dispute of some sort. Rocky/Adrian, Rocky/Paulie, Rocky/Son, Paulie/Adrian, etc.
15 minute showcase fight
10 minute montage of other less consequential fights in the "present day".
5 minute montage of past memories
5 minute clip to show Rocky at his home doing whatever he does in the present day.
5 minute dispute again with family, but this time about a fight, not family issues.
5 minute scene with a doctor informing Rocky he can't take anymore damage to head.
10 minute scene where someone dies. This includes both the death and the funeral of said person.
10 minutes of residual filming. Scenes that link together other scenes.
Boom you got a movie.

*Blurry image from a security camera on screen*
"Damn! This security camera footage is too blurry! I can't quite make out the important clue!"
"Don't worry boss, I'll enhance it / zoom in!"
*The license plate number / distinguishing tattoo / reflection of the killer's face comes into perfect focus*

Re: Movie Cliches
Can't believe nobody's mentioned how cops can't make it 15 mins in without having gun & badge suspended. Then how baddies only get arrested/shot by the suspended cops.
But my personal fav is in car chases, where the hero (always in an inferior vehicle) duels to the death, instead of slamming on brakes and turning around.
Oh and how everything from 6 shot revolvers to full auto Uzis never run outta ammo.

Re: Movie Cliches
The worst is probably how hero always has a counteraction and genious escape everytime he is facing death by the enemy until the very end where he accepts his bad position and to be shot as a result.
Luckily this is always the exact time where villain tells a story just long enough to give time to Heros old friend to shoot villain as villain is squeezing the trigger.
