I know it feels like you have to move forward...but why? Is she pressuring you, as well? Do not get engaged until you see how she deals with traveling to Australia and meeting your family.
Seriously...there is no rush!
But a man in love is going to do what he wants no matter what anyone else says.
Just make sure she has a great ass. That's key.

I'm almost 28. I've had 2 serious gf's before this one. Serious meaning >6 months dating. This one just feels different, we connect on many more levels than any of the other gf's I've had before. I'm certain we're going to get married. But as you said, at least a year, preferably 2 years, before that question gets popped imo. Definitely not before she comes out to Australia with me.
She's not pressuring me at all, in fact she's thinking the same way. So we're not gonna bow to the mother pressure, I was just curious what you guys thought and if me thinking her mum was nuts was irrational.
Her ass is quite nice

Just do your own thing klavs. No one has the answer. I proposed after 10 months in the parking lot of a taco bell restaurant and am coming up on 10 years later this year.
As for what I'd like today? Sleep. Or maybe coffee. Or maybe both. Not sure.

It's a 3 year appointment, and I have roughly 2.5 more to go. I'll start applying for jobs in my 3rd year.

How soon is too soon to propose to someone? I mean, my gf's family (well her mum anyway) is putting pressure on me surreptitiously about proposing and stuff, we have been together 7 months. I mean, I am certain I am going to end up marrying this girl, but I am nowhere near ready to propose yet. I am especially not proposing until after she meets my family, which is looking to be at Christmas time, I'm taking her back to Australia with me to enjoy a proper summer Christmas. Not those stupid freeze your butt of Christmases you people have.

Yeah... I don't think I'll last 2 years. Year and a half will probably be as long as I am going to wait. That's just me though.
She's 24.
My visa doesn't come into play, but it runs out in 2013

Sounds like Melancholia, which, for some reason, I really liked.
Dom, I'm letting this stay here even if you did delete your post about The Grey.

Klavs,
Listen to me, not these other nuts in the lounge (except for Crash).
Ask her to marry you whenever the mood strikes. It doesn't mean you have to hustle on down to the courthouse like Kioshk right away.

Behold, the Frenchified version of Bustorhymes! (I can't remember what email address I signed up as BustoRhymes with so can't reset my password...)
Klavs, you sound like you're in a good place. Tough to give advice on this sort of thing. I generally think that getting married too young or too early in a relationship is asking for trouble. How far have discussions with your gf gone? Do you have a nickname for her, like Wookie's "K"? You sound like you are in a good place, talking about things, not rushing, considering the quality of the ass. All fine things to keep in mind.

John, I just moved it to the movie thread. I made a mistake.
I'm still digesting Melancholia. I'm not sure he does it, but every new LVT movie I see, I say to myself, "I am not going to be surprised," but damned if he doesn't do it.

Re: May the hacker be caught and thrown in a dungeon: May 2012 LC Thread
I returned today from a trip to Nassau. A little gambling, a lot of eating and drinking, and a whole bunch of puking when we hired a small boat to take us into shark territory.
Here's a video of the sharks. To really feel like you're there, you have to imagine me in the background, bent double over the side of the boat and puking my guts out every time the boat moved. Notice that the guide had to beat the sharks away with the ladder. They could tell I was moments from falling overboard.
Also, exciting news. My department is starting an MFA program in creative non-fiction. I was hired to help develop and coordinate the program. Sick sick sick opportunity, and I got the news days before we left for Nassau, so the whole trip felt like a celebration.

Butso,
Email me everything you know about your other account (infraction history, DOB, email, whatever) that wouldn't be public knowledge on the forum and I can get Mat to reset the password of your main account.
