Just being a female lead (or carrying, really) in any trifecta is rare. Milla Jovovich has the Resident Evil series and Kate Beckinsale has Underworld. But no others. That alone is very rare for a female to carry a franchise over several films.

Sarah Michelle Gellar has 2 in 2: The Grudge, and Scooby Doo, so she's got an outside shot of making it. She also happens to have been in exactly 1 film of 3 other series: I Know What You Did Last Summer, Scream 2, and Cruel Intentions.

James Earl Jones played the voice of Darth Vader in Star Wars and Admiral Greer in three movies.

There's heaps of actors to choose from but it's very hard to think of actresses for this. There has to be more than one I would think, but the closest I've come so far is Sigourney Weaver - Aliens and Ghostbusters. I'll give it a bit more thought.

She plays the same character (Dominique) in the Trois Coleurs trilogy, and another character (Celine)in Before Sunrise/Sunset.

I know that last one is only two, but she does play the same character from the Before movies in Waking Life.

And if that doesn't count, she will reprise the role of Celine in a third Before movie.

yeah, when it's made, it'll count. Is Waking Life considered a trilogy with the Befores? I don't think it is, but if so, then that is a second actress who fits the bill, I guess.

I reckon there may be another 3/3 actress if you delve into the world of exploitation/horror, especially horror with its sequelitis. But it would probably be no one we've heard of.
