They filmed parts of The Da Vinci Code at Lincoln Cathedral, because it's a replica (Tho a lot smaller) ((It's still pretty big)) of St Pauls, which was in the book. I lived in Lincoln at the time, and saw Ron Howard out drinking twice, pissed both time, and with Tom hanks on one occasion. Also saw Tom Hanks again drinking a glass of I guess wine, during the day, sat out on the grass by the side of the Cathedral with some kids.

I was in the Adidas 'elite' club as a kid.. Sounds fancy, but you pay the money, and you're in! - I met the entire Man United team (94) and Daley Thompson, Colin Jackson.. lots of other athletes, cant remember all. Dave Seaman I met there.

Met Lee Dixon and Ray Parlour (Arsenal) as a kid, they were signing **** at a sports shop in Farnham.

Also when I was in Lincoln, I worked as an estate agent, and I regularly met Jeffrey Archer, (author) who was on day release and came in once a week for a nose around.

I lived down the road from and was in the same class as Justin Rose (Golfer) when I was a kid in Hants.

I've played a fair bit of cards Laurie Sanchez (football)before he went to Greece.

I also met Sue Pollard!! Who no one out side a 30/35 y/o born and lived in UK will know.. I went to value a house, this was in Lincoln, and there she was stood in the kitchen, and strangely the owner decided to not be there, and have her there instead. It was weird. She was in town for panto I think, and obvs knew the owner.

Met a fair few other footballers less famous then the ones mentioned.

I realise having to explain who they are means their not that famous!

Still.. Cantona, Giggs, Scholes, Beckham, Schmeichel, Chris Casper..

St Paul's Cathedral? What do you mean? It was built way before St Paul's and is nothing like it.

At Fantastic Fest I had a bunch of star struck moments. The first was when I met Pat Healy, the lead character in the awesome dark comedy, Cheap Thrills. He's a character actor. He was the pharmacist in Magnolia, has a bunch of small tv credits, and had lead roles in The Innkeepers and Compliance. He had a small role in the new Captain America movie too, he was "Scientist #1." I've been following his career for a while.

I chatted him up in the hotel lobby. Over the next few days we kept running into each other throughout the festival. With my face in my phone while waiting for a movie I overheard him, "hey Adrian what's up man?" I looked up, "oh hey Pat." It was a super cool moment for me.

Huh? In the book it's St Paul's. St Paul's refused permission to film there - So they filmed in at Lincoln cat.

I've been an extra in TV and movies the last couple years, so I've had a few run-ins. My favorite is unrelated, though:

I think it was about 2001-2002, when my wife (then my girlfriend/fiancee) and I lived in a small apartment in the Atlanta area. When we used to walk our puppy around the apartment complex, we'd sometimes run into a female neighbor who was walking her dog. Gradually, the encounters evolved from simple head-nod acknowledgements to short chats.

She was pretty, but nothing about her struck me as unusual. Well, I guess the fact that she was almost always dressed in [nice] sweats and a baseball cap, was odd, considering she was attractive. Eventually, we made proper introductions. Her name was Liz.

One day, my wife and I ran into her and the three of us stopped and talked for a while. She mentioned that she and her boyfriend, Lex, were going to see his son play basketball (high school, I believe) that night. It came up that he used to be a wrestler. When I asked for clarification, she said that he was a professional wrestler. I knew of a Lex who lived in Atlanta who was a wrestler, so I asked...Lex Luger? Correct!

Well, that was cool. We kept talking. She mentioned, a little sheephisly, that she used to be married to another wrestler, who went by the name "Macho Man."

Being a child of the 80's, even though I wasn't into wrestling, I had friends who were, so I knew all about it. My mind started churning...Macho Man...Liz...married...? Holy ****. "Are you...?"

"Yes, I was known as 'Miss Elizabeth.'"

Spoiler:

Without going crazy, I explained to my wife who she was. I didn't bombard her with questions or anything and I think she appreciated that I was both excited to "meet" her and still treated her like I always had. From there, we developed a bit of a friendship. Didn't get extremely close, but hung out at her apartment a couple times.

When we moved to the townhouses next door, she let us take whatever we wanted from her apartment, as she was moving in with Lex and he didn't want anything that had once belong to Macho Man. So, we grabbed a 9-foot long wooden cabinet that was a custom-made gift for her wedding to Savage, a wooden "pie safe" that I have in my office, and an exercise bike.

We met Lex Luger briefly when we came with the movers to get the stuff, but he wasn't very friendly that day.

We fell out of touch after we moved and later figured out it had to do with some odd jealousy by Lex. We invited them to our wedding in May 2013, but never got an RSVP and she died before it, anyway.

^^^

His kid was one year younger than me and went to my high school for a year before Lex moved him to a rich private school. He played Varsity bball as a FR and was a pretty nice kid. He always played baseball at the same park as I did growing up. Lex would come to most all of his games and try and sit in the stands and be normal and socialize with the other parents or would eventually try and move off to the side of the dugout just to watch him in peace. It never worked out for him though. Wrestling was huge at that time among kids and everybody and their parents knew who he was so everybody bothered him to the point where he would have to watch the rest of every game in his car. He actually seemed like an involved dad but it was kind of sad to know that he never could enjoy simple parentin joys like that. I guess that's the price of being a celeb.

Mrs. Elizabeth dying apparently crushed him. That coupled with I guess divorcing from his wife because he was running around on her with Mrs Elizabeth crushed him financially. The last I read he was almost dead broke but had found religion and was living in the basement of his church

Did she ever seem like the type had issues or inner demons? She was very pretty in the 80s early 90s. She looked much more bloated in her last years iirc. Not sure if that was from a lifestyle of vodka and pills or just not aging as well

I did that for about a year. I'm sadly naive about celebrities, so I'd sometimes talk to whoever was next to me and then not realize they were actually the star. Probably talked since I obviously didn't know who it was. Talked to Lindsey Lohan in this fashion before she went bonkers. Incredibly nice girl at that time.

One little secret about extra work. Quite a few has-been actors do it. Met quite a few that docked quite a bit of time talking into the camera and shouldering with mega stars. I won't go into details here.

I once said hi shook hands with Jennifer Garner. She had the strangest face I've ever seen. Not ugly, not pretty, but completely and utterly plain and featureless. Yes, she introduced herself as "Jennifer." I didn't know who she was either.

That's a good question. Like I said, our friendship didn't develop to the point that we were close friends, but more like very friendly neighbors, so I didn't get the deepest look into her psyche.

She seemed a bit reserved to me - as I mentioned, she always wore sweats and a baseball cap. I ran into her once at night sitting outside her building drunk. She wasn't sloppy drunk or in trouble or anything, so I didn't think much of it as my wife and I hung out talking to her.

Once we hung out in her apartment and I asked her if she was still involved at all with the WWE. She said no and that neither she nor Lex were, that they didn't like what it had become. She said she found out that she had been put in a video game without her permission, but decided to not do anything about it. I didn't probe with more questions - she seemed like she didn't want to talk about her wrestling past (when she first made her Miss Elizabeth reveal to me, she did say that George "The Animal" Steele was a "sweetheart").

As to her looks, I thought she was still very pretty. She was just older and didn't wear tight dresses.

The time I thought there might be a problem in her life was after my wife and I had moved to our townhouse, after we had taken those pieces of furniture she gave us. A few weeks after the move, my wife called her to see if she and Lex wanted to get together. Liz had previously shown us blueprints of what they were going to do with their new townhouse and how my wife and I needed to come over. The women would do women stuff and Lex and I would grill and hang out in their in-home sports bar. Stuff like that.

Anyway, my wife left a message. A day or two later, Liz called back. She sounded confused and asked if someone had called her from our number. My wife was equally confused, since she knew she was speaking to Liz. When she told Liz who she was calling, Liz seemed embarrassed. Apparently, it was my name that appeared on her caller ID. She didn't know my last name and the first name she knew me by was a nickname. Lex saw the caller ID and got pissed that some dude was calling her (he obviously didn't listen to the message). He made her call back immediately while he was standing there, probably so she couldn't lie about who it was.

It was all straightened out in a few seconds, obviously, but that was the last time we spoke with her. The jealousy, distrust, and overprotectiveness (is that a word?) of Lex weirded us out. We still tried to stay in touch and invited them to our wedding, but never heard from her again.

It was very sad. There was a selfish part of me that wanted to be friends with a celebrity - she had even talked about having us over for dinner with various "name" friends. But really, I was saddened when she died because she was a very nice person and it seemed like we could have had a good friendship. From my perspective, she didn't seem very happy near the end and as tragic as her death was, I wished she was at least happy.

That's funny. The only times I might not know an actor is if they weren't "famous" and had a small part. We're always warned not to talk to the actors unless they talk to us first. On the last set I was on, I had a featured extra role (of which the "featured" part was cut before I could do it) and got to chat with the actors a little. It's hard to toe the line between watching them as someone who is interested in what they do and staring at them like a little fan girl.

I don't normally like posting my picture all over the interwebs, but since anyone in the world with the DVD can see me, what the heck. Here's my first big 3 seconds of fame as a featured extra on Identity Thief. It was pretty much just Jason Bateman and me in the scene. I was too nervous to try to chat with him, but he did introduce himself to me, thanked me at the beginning and end, and even gave me some direction between takes at one point.

Well now I finally know who was responsible for pushing roided out Lex over the edge to getting himself arrested for domestic battery on Mrs. Elizabeth

You posting this made me read up on him. Apparently dead broke and skinny as he can get due to spinal cord swelling that just about paralyzed him. Listened to an interview he did as well. He said his son getting engaged was the first time he had sat down and seen or ate with any of his kids in 10 years. They really sided with the mother big time.

Also made me thing back to bball tryouts. Supposed to be doing pushups and Brian McCann discussing with Lex's son wrestling, whether his dad was a good guy or bad guy now, wrestling in general, etc. I'm sure that got old real quick. I just remember he sat on the bleachers towards the end one day. He was as broad as 2.5 people and all muscle. His picture now is just crazy to see. He's safe to grill with now

Now that I think about it, I do remember hearing an interview with Lex (maybe on 790 TheZone several years ago?) where he talked about being paralyzed in a hotel room, etc.

When I met him ever so briefly, he was still gigantic. He was leaning against a wall at Liz's apartment flipping through a Victoria's Secret catalog, bemoaning the fact that she was giving us all this great stuff. He was particularly upset about the exercise bike, which I believe was from his gym, as he said it was worth a couple thousand. I've gotten much less use out of that bike than I have the other pieces of furniture.

One of my clients was in the music industry as a bassist and a producer in the 80's/90's. At his birthday party one year I hung out with Kim Mitchell, Larry Gowan and Alfie Zappacosta. If you're Canadian you will appreciate it more, and Gowan was a really cool guy who got way too drunk and hit on my clients' wife.

That's a cool and sad story about Miss Elizabeth. I was a casual wrestling fan in the '80s and definitely remember Randy "Snap into a Slim Jim!" Savage and Miss Elizabeth. Remember Lex Luger the name but couldn't immediately picture him. Doesn't sound that dissimilar to The Wrestler.

Extra work can be fun. I did it once for 3 weeks when I was 13 in a movie called King of the Hill. I'm sitting next to Jesse Bradford in a scene. And then my face is plastered on screen in another scene. This was neat because it was set in the depression era so everything looked old. Katherine Heigl was very cute and we caught eyes several times. lol. She probably thought I was weird because I was staring at her so often. Now I don't find her attractive and her personality seems kinda annoying. Jesse Bradford seemed kinda toolish. Adrien Brody could whistle ****ing LOUD on command. Steven Soderbergh "directed" me by crouching behind a door and pointing at random kids then thumbing them to walk out the door.

I do not know any famous people well.

I was sitting at a table in a random Vietnamese restaurant ten years ago when I hear the most distinctive voice in the world take the table behind me. It was Christopher Walken. It was pretty funny to listen to him talk nonstop for an hour.

I sat at a table next to Joaquin Phoenix and Gwyneth Paltrow many years ago at Nobu.

Steve Zahn almost ran me over on his bike in New Orleans a few years ago. As it turned out, he was on his way to a restaurant to have dinner with Michael Caine. I was headed to the same restaurant.

I see Padma Lakshmi all the time because she lives in my neighborhood. I've talked to her but don't know her. She is super hot, like 8 standard deviations above normal (big surprise).

I see the guy who played Redfoot in The Usual Suspects frequently as well. He must live near me. He looks borderline homeless.

Sat across from Rihanna on a plane. Sat across from Madeleine Albright on a plane (LOL celebrity).

Peter Dinklage almost bought an apartment in my small building but he backed out before I met him. It would have been awesome to know Tyrion Lannister.

I've played poker with various celebrities and athletes. That's probably true of anyone who plays in private cash games in NYC or LA.
