I'm biased but have to suggest Georgia, the home of more inexplicable Elvis sightings that no one ever makes than any other state.

I want to visit Charleston, South Carolina. Also would like to go to south Florida but may have to put off for another year since I just started my new job.

No, Katy, I won't be traveling alone. I'm also thinking of the Outer Banks too. I've been all over North Carolina but never to the Outer Banks. I like caves.
What are you doing for your new job?

Re: June Swoon, It Must be Something in the Water (June 2012 LC thread)
That kinetic race thread reminded me. One of my friends is in school right now, and she just joined a club that makes stuff out of concrete. One of the projects requires creating a concrete boat. The conversation went sort of like this:
Me: "The thing is supposed to float?"
Her: "Yes, we race in it."
Me: "So, in other words, if it doesn't float, you drown? Sparta would be proud."
Her: "We wear life jackets."
Me: "Wouldn't the tidal force from a concrete boat suck you under?"
Her: "No! wtf?"
Me: "I'm just saying, you might want to check the physics of this one first."
Her: "The water is shallow."

Well, John, for the first few months most likely I'll be running around freaking out, looking like a deer caught in the headlights
but ultimately I hope to be caring for my patients on the new medical unit in a cool, calm, collected manner. This hospital is really great. I, and my new-hire coworkers, will be trained for the next 4-5 months on various units to bring us up to speed. It's really an amazing opportunity and we are extremely lucky.
Here's my schedule through the summer:
Next 2 weeks:
- EKG training and testing
- ER for one day learning how to put in IVs
3rd week:
- Cardiac Telemetry Unit
July - October:
- Oncology/Hematology Unit
Yes, I get to work for a few months training on the cancer unit. Should be depressing. I will be thinking of Merek and probably crying a lot
In October they will transfer me up to my new med-surg unit!
Believe it or not, I actually miss my psychiatric patients and sometimes wish I had never made the switch. My s.o. tells me I'm one of those grass-is-always-greener people

Sounds like you've found a position that you'll come to really love though. I like to hear it!

thanks Solo! you are so kind.
My goal is to be able to last 6 months on my new unit without making any serious mistakes. It is very very stressfull for new nurses. I mentioned this to my sister and was surprised that she was not very supportive. wtf? But that's family for you. You gotta love 'em!

Katy,
I remember when you started the nursing program. Overall, a good decision I think. Hope all goes well with the new job.

Katy, everybody makes mistakes of one kind or another. Just don't make any huge ones, and you'll be fine. We here have every confidence in you.

I can't imagine wanting or having a better nurse than what I'm sure Katy is.
...do you wear you're little nurse's outfit with sexy stockings and garters for Mr. Katy?
If not, you should.

Thanks, everyone! I will give it my best shot. I may not be the fastest learner (tbh I'm slow as hell ) but I am very conscientious. I take my duties seriously!
Dominic, you crack me up.
