Re: Joseph Heller still dead, still at 76 (and other celebrity deaths): RIP The Greatest

Damn,

It always seems too early,Chris Cornell was only 52.

I am not going to be the one to tell my wife. I'm certain she would have gladly traded me in no problem.

Just goes to show if you want the girls, learn to sing.

I prefer Badmotorfinger and Louder Than Love, but all excellent albums.

I would deem your chances of keeping her much improved.

That's a shocker for sure. Was just looking for SG tix last weekend, along with other "bucket list" bands (great bands that I haven't seen). Wasn't a total loss on bucket list front, scored a front row seat to see Roger Hodgson from Supertramp. Also got tix to see Yes (seen them many times). Really wanted to see Radiohead though.

Sad news about Moore.

He was in the greatest Bond movie on his first outing.

Agree with your sad news comment; however, you've got to be kidding with your subsequent statement. I always disliked the way Roger Moore portrayed James Bond and none of his movies were great in any sense of the word. He was okay at first, but by the time he got to the ridiculous Moonraker, Bond was just a joke. In fact, by then Moore was playing him almost as a parody. If I want to watch a good James Bond parody, then I'll watch James Coburn in Our Man Flint, or even Dean Martin as Matt Helm. I don't need Roger Moore doing a comedic takeoff of the man himself. He was much better as Simon Templar in The Saint.

That said, R.I.P.

RIP Roger Moore Never really saw him as James Bond because I wouldn't watch any of them after Connery left. But he was my 3rd favorite Maverick.

Wow, I'm stunned.

As a native Miamian, a former student at the University of Miami, and a lifelong fan of the Hurricanes, I vividly remember Cortez Kennedy as a fierce defensive lineman on some of the greatest UM football teams of the 1980s. He was inducted into The U's Sport's Hall of Fame in 2004 as well as the football team's Ring of Honor in 2008 (along with fellow 2008 inductees Jim Kelly, Edgerrin James, Jim Otto, and Gino Torreta). And, of course, inducted into the NFL's Hall of Fame in 2012.

R.I.P. Cortez

I remember him well, always liked him.

Roger Moore came along as Bond when I was a kid, and I didn't really understand what this fake James Bond was doing in these movies. Such a mystery to my young mind. But I have always liked The Man With the Golden Gun.
