Ken Stabler died, 69. As a huge Raiders fan growing up, Stabler was like a god to me. He should already be in the Hall of Fame. No NFL qb has ever been better in the clutch. Won 1 Super Bowl but coulda easily have won 2 or 3 with a few breaks. RIP Snake

My Dad was a big fan of KS. I was more like, I don't like you if you're not on my team, but I do have a little inherited soft spot here.

I remember when Oakland traded him for Dan Pastorini of Houston and then the Kansas City Chiefs treated Pastorini like a turkey drumstick.

This is a good James Tate poem I read when I was young and never forgot:

The Wild Cheese

A head of cheese raised by wolves

That kid's name was Moe Greene, and the city he invented was Las Vegas. This was a great man, a man of vision and guts. And there isn't even a plaque, or a signpost or a statue of him in that town!
