While listening to a Bill Evans song on Pandora internet radio, I curiously clicked on the artist information tab. To my surprise their was no listing for Mr. Evans. This seems to be a glaring omission considering that Pandora contains exhaustive biographies for artists of much lesser reknown.

I feel like I owe this forum a thank you for this thread, this thread is the reason I'm currently listening to Sonny Clark, despite I think him not being mentioned, anyway this seems glorious,

The really exciting thing is that I've managed to scratch the surface of a music that has a 70+ year history. I really do feel fortunate to have found this thread a few months ago when I had amazon vouchers to punt.

Music is a universal language. Your brain does not have the neural pathways to interpret jazz yet. It is like trying to understand advanced Spanish when you know only three words. It is completely normal and the reason why jazz is not a popular music form. When I first started really getting into music I thought jazz sounded like random noise, but now I love it more than any other music type. Takes time to appreciate, but well worth it

The Rudy Van Gelder remaster series is great. I have a few of these and plan on getting many more. Below is a link to amazon where at least 46 classic jazz albums are available. Rudy was a sound/recording engineer and made many of the classic jazz albums in the 50's and 60's, and was associated with the Blue Note and Prestige and Savory record labels. He worked with the best and it shows in this series.

Felt like bumping this one, as I feel I need to start listening to more jazz in order to educate myself as a musician. So while I've been trying to do my school project, instead of listening to my normal Spotify playlist, I put on some Miles Davis. Feel free to give me recommendations on where to continue this path. FWIW, I'm a pianist, so good pianists always interest me.

Jab, given your history and taste, plus some of the stuff you have posted, get some Bill Evans, especially the stuff with Scottie LaFaro on bass. Kind of cliched to cite them, but Waltz for Debbie and Sunday at the Village Vanguard earn their status.

Two of my favorites are Hampton Hawes, and Wynton Kelly. Hamp is funky as a bag full of ***holes, and Wynton (who often gets overlooked) swings no less hard. Wynton's album Kelly Blue is a personal favorite.
