awesome thread. Will listen to a lot of this during my grind in the future.
I was thinking about learing to play the piano myself. I used to play instruments when I was younger and sing in a choir so I am able to read notes and stuff like that.
I realize that you learned a different way, but are there any online resources you would recommend?
I thought about getting this piano: http://www.musikland-online.de/Yamah...rosenholz.html
any thoughts?
In my experience, Yamaha is great for reasonably-priced digital pianos. That seems like a good one.
For free online resources, check out the links I provided earlier for free sheet music. Other than that the only thing I can think of is YouTube tutorials. Even I use them every now and then if I can't pick up a certain part on my own.
If anyone's reading this, there's a channel on Youtube called banditblackoriginal, which gives the chance for YouTube musicians to post their covers on it's profile, to be voted on, and the top10 are shown on monthly updates. I've posted a couple of my covers there, and I would really appreciate if you guys could vote me up, and help me get some more listeners that way.
Applied to a pop-jazz conservatory in Espoo today, as I'll be starting my university studies nearby next fall. Was a bit funny walking to the room, and seeing the panel, with one of the panelists being a top Finnish drummer, who teaches at the school, who I have seen live a couple times in different occasions, last time in March. And into the test, when I had to do a prima vista, I played with him. Kinda funny. Hope I get in there, seems like a good school with lots of fun events.
Again, requested on SSPLO, but definitely would've done this without it too. Had played this every now and then for a while already. Now a complete version.
Finally recorded a Dream Theater cover. Most of them are impossible, but Hollow Years is a more straight forward, laidback song, which works great on the piano.
