Nothing special about it, I just didn't notice you using it. Could be the audio though. Basically, just try to keep it legato with the help of the pedal, so there aren't any unnecessary pauses.
I think it's mostly a problem with the recording process. I've recorded some stuff that sounds kinda similar to kelley's video, despite being a pretty heavy sustain pedal user. Just need a better microphone or something
Fullontilt87, I'll have to check those songs out, as I really can't play songs I don't know. If I like them/feel that they'd make a good cover, I'll give it a shot.
np, here's a cover of The Stone to hopefully pike your interest
Awesome, but what's what weird popping sound coming through in the audio? I thought it was bad sound equipment on my laptop so I ran it through my external firewire sound processor and good headphones and get the same issue.
I wouldn't bitch, but it sounds like I have a blown speaker when the pops hit and it takes me out of listening.
I don't know. I guess my recording equipment needs some improving. In the first videos I'm using my standard Panasonic digital camera. Recently I've been using a Sony HD video camera. I'm trying to record the audio with a seperate microphone in the future.
Currently working on November Rain by Guns N Roses. 8 minutes of epicness, I'd say. Just needs a lot of practice with the guitar solos, and trying to make the whole song without messing up.
That's how I record stuff (well, in theory if I had a camera anyway), camera captures the video and the audio goes directly into the computer, then I merge the two files afterwards. Works very well I think, sound comes out great.
I think that more distance between the keyboard and the mic would kill the pops. I think pop filters are to prevent exactly that.
If I were recording this I'd get audio directly from the midi/usb/whatever output to the computer, and then not use the audio from the video track at all. I have no idea how to do that on a PC, so it might end up being complicated.
Hey Jabonator, nice thread! I especially enjoyed your rendition of Like Spinning Plates! I wish I was as prolific as you...
I thought I'd add my own humble contribution for everyone, a version of the Dirty Projectors "Two Doves" I worked out a couple years ago. I didn't have time to cop the nice string intro, but hopefully you guys like it anyway.
You can do what Duke describes in something as basic as Windows Movie Maker. I had never used it before and figured it out in less than 5 minutes, it's no problem.
