In most cases I don't have any sheet music, but just play the songs by ear, based on the chords I find for them on ultimate-guitar.

For Don't You Worry Child, it looks like you're using sheet music? Where did you get the sheets?

A friend shipped me the sheets for that one. Didn't play it totally based on that though.

do you usually go into a song with an idea for certain parts (certain riffs or melodic progressions at specific points in the song)?

i have a classical piano background but i'm really bad at improvising (might just be slow thinking) so kinda just wondering what your process is. big fan of stripped down versions of pop songs

My process kinda depends on the song. On a lot of the songs, I just pick up the melody by ear, and come up with some sort off arrangement, that brings out the original rhythm of the song, whether it is by "strumming" the full chord, or doing arpeggios. I've always played some stuff like this, even as a kid, when I mainly played classical, so I think I've just got good at it, and it comes instinctively. You give me the chords to a song I know in front of me, I'll play it out and get a decent version out immediately.

When the songs have something important, like a piano intro, repetitive riff, etc, I'll start working from there. Often piano based songs cause more trouble than others, because I can't play the piano part fully while playing the melody, so I'll have to come up with a way to make it sound similar to the original piano part, but so that I can play it with my left hand alone.

Really nice covers of Hero of War and Cute Without the E on the YouTube channel. Got any covers of The Used?

Yesterday I got to play with one of my idols, Lenni-Kalle Taipale. Greatest concert experience I've ever had, all around. Had great fun playing, listening to the other bands, and finally playing with Lenni, and talking to him. Possibly somewhat because of that, I felt inspired to do something more improvised and jazz/blues driven.

So, every now and then I've got questions on why I don't try singing on my videos. A while ago I sang this particular song drunk in karaoke, and got some encouraging words, so I thought I'd finally give this a go. I've never really sang in front of anyone, so honest feedback is appreciated.
