In continuing developments, my administrative assistant is applying for another job, continuing with the theme of women deserting me.

If rug burn gets boring, I'm pretty sure you're doing it wrong.

But since I don't even understand the perils of texting, it's possible that I don't understand modern developments in rug burn, either.
The shag carpeting of the prior day is long gone. These days, it's more like indoor / outdoor carpeting since people don't take of their shoes anymore, plus wine stains.

I don't think I've lived in a carpeted place for 20 years. I'm not even sure if I know the last time I seen a rug that wasn't a dirt kick for shoes.

i wouldnt even venture a guess what an administrative assistant would do for 8 hours a day. maybe thats why the country is in such disarray.

Actually, it's seven hours a day, and because she works for me, she does plenty. Just keeping me on task and heading in the right direction takes skill and fortitude.

As I reported elsewhere, I rewired my shop (plugs, lighting is tomorrow) and the first test of the rewire plug ins was to listen to The Who on Cd (best of compilation). Worked beautifully. So in celebration for you lounger cats, old and young alike:

cd's, plug in speakers. how sad. you have been left behind in the new world of technology.

godzilla is fitting, prehistoric is the word.
he is gone since he changed into a bird
no wires are needed anymore
i hope this doesnt make you sore
as music now can more easily be heard

She probably got tired of throwing herself at you.

I don't know what an administrative assistant does. I've met a few. They were all women with psychology or other social working degrees.

There are times her job consists of tracking things I misplace.

that proves the point.

Today she handled scheduling interviews, including setting me up for a Skype interview, making appointments for me, sending emails and reminders to department chairs, and last week she worked a retirement party for math faculty at a local country club that she arranged completely, including having music students play at event and handling donations. She also worked an hour and a half past quitting time so I was prepared for union grievances and a committee I chair. I'm going to be lost without her.

Administrative Assistants run things. A lot of them are in positions that at one time would have been called secretaries. I've known quite a few who were paid very good salaries, but I've never know one who was paid as much as she was worth.

i guess their job is to do all things the person that hired them cant do themselves.
maybe a switch of jobs for a week or two would open some eyes.

This is spot on. Fishette did this for several years and was very good at it. We also have several other folks at the school who do this for various directors and they are a huge help

It's not as much can't, although that is certainly the case with some people, it is more that the person doesn't have the time to do a lot of things that the admin assistant takes care of. At least in our organization everyone with an admin assistant realizes what they do and how valuable they are because at times they do not have one, just like what John will have. His work life will be twice as hard until he gets a good replacement.

Highfalutin types never know how things really work. They can't even turn off auto-span signatures.

If you want to know how things really run in an organization, talk to the janitors, secretaries, etc. They see all the **** everyone tries to hide.
Which makes IT the 21 century version?

Good Admins also give their bosses the nicest gifts.
07-01-2017 , 08:31 PM
How many cigars have you lit with that precious gift? Svelte is a marvelously dangerous word with many layers, and like a well-made Napoleon Cake, superbly delicious.

That's a lighter? I thought it was a cufflink.

Dean Svelte Love?

Before that, were you Professor Style Crush?
07-03-2017 , 04:25 AM

Skinny Love seemed too perjorative, so Svelte Love was born.

Before that, I was Professor Don't **** with Me.
