Nah, the machine counters drastically overestimate calories expended. Monitors like fitbit are more accurate, but they still overestimate a bit and dont take BMR calories you would burn anyway into account. So a fitbit might tell you ~350 for a half hour of cardio, but the net is ~300, because you'd burn 50 anyway if you were lying down and not doing anything

But yeah, difference in body weight is a factor, but not that drastic

New study shows fattie teens get healthier after weight loss surgery. As long as they don't die on the table, I guess! Sounds like pr for the bariatric surgery industry. http://www.upi.com/Health_News/2016/...5451468873711/

It would only make sense that X months after weight loss surgery (and assuming the lost weight over that time) metrics would be better than before, no?

It doesn't make sense to point out that a person who weighs 300 lbs jogging 1 mile has a harder time than someone who weighs 250 lbs joggin 1 mile. Or am I missing something?

bump for oft-nude fattie Lena Dunham's stirring convention speech tonight. Go on and try to shame this proud large woman, I dare you.

Did she talk about accepting gross bodies in her speech?

600 pound fattie loses 330 pounds by, among other things, walking a mile to Walmart every time he wanted to eat something. http://nypost.com/2016/08/17/i-lost-...g-for-my-food/

Is a 600 lb person even physically capable of walking?

If time is not an issue, it really doesn't matter whether you walk, jog, or run; you're basically going to be burning the same amount of calories as long as you go the same distance. (Obviously, running is better for your heart, but if you're just interested in burning calories for weight loss, then walking a mile is the same as running a mile; it just takes longer.)

I notice that only fatties wear fitbits. I think it's the same group that wore shape ups.

This is completely false, and there have been multiple studies conducted disproving it:

I stand corrected. And here's an even newer study that drives home the point:

Dude, I just bought one and I'm super skinny. In fact they have me on a weight gain plan (good luck with that).

I got it because I'm very out of shape and a typical bum poker player.

So one outlier vs everyone else I've ever seen?

Btw, take care of your physical health, exercise.

It seems to me that there are plenty of in-shape people who wear fitbits. Of the 8 people or so I've met who wear them, only one was kinda fat.

I saw that good old Lena Dunham has now lost a lot of weight, got a personal trainer guru lady and everything. Evidently her motives were purely for her health though, so there's nothing shallow or fat-shaming about it!

This is the last season of Girls though, so we won't get to enjoy nude scenes with the new body.

To be fair, she was a hard pass even when she was heavier.
