Buy real (non-processed food). Of course, preparation is time-consuming but I think budgetwise you'll come out better.

Yes. Lower carbs/fats. You can replace them with cheap proteins like eggs and cans of tuna.

It's a pain in the ass, but it's possible on a budget.

Go to fast food.

I have tried every diet and all fail. Water fasting, Paleo, and atkins and did work. Even got to 200 on Atkins around 2000. I gave up and was 302 at the dentist. There was an issue of men's health on the table. In it it said sometimes you have to feel the pain. Then there was another article about some actors that had to prepare for a movie and the amount of pain they had to go through.

Sometimes you have to feel the Bern, and burn from dieting is a lot easier than burn from running that last 1/4 mile. Also, you can set your diet clock and the next day there is no pain, yet when you run that last 1/4 mile it is still torture and it never goes away.

I have had a lo of stress so it may be partial hormones as adrenals send cortisol though the body, putting on fat on belly as defense mechanism. But, that can be solved by trying to remove the stress. Even if you are in a bad situation make the most of it and take a walk and look at the flowers.

Go on youtube and Obese to Beast is pretty good. But search "How I lost 100 lbs" or "how I lost 50 lbs".

For me you have to do your own routine, don't buy a book (except as a guide), don't follow a diet, don't get a trainer, just listen to those that lost and take on tips. Watch the health videos.

The problem with going to a store is that it is hard not to eat it all or down the gallon of milk. Try not to drink calories. Avoid the breads. Fortunately we are not in a era where fast food is getting pretty healthy. I only eat two meals a day. one from 12:00pm to 2:00pm and one from 4:00 pm to 9:00 pm. I may snack on an orange, lettuce, or banana or smoked salmon or even a ice cream. Sometimes 2 ice creams in a day and still lose. I shoot for about 2000 calories. I do about 500 calories at gym 5-6 days a week.

Fast food makes it easy. Try to avoid the breads and frys, and focus on real food. I usually get diet coke or water. Maybe 1 fry a day.

Burger King
2 tacos and garden salad
Wopper Jr. and garden Salad
10 piece, chicken sandwidth and salad
burger king salads are my favorite as the seem fresh and use sweet part of lettuce.

McDonalds
mcDouble
one of the new chicken sandwiches grilled
double filet o fish ( my new favorite), try to get more food to bread ratio.

KFC
$5 fillup, breast original

Habit
albacore sandwidch
chicken sandwidch
double char cheeseburger no mayo.

5 lbs easy a month and you save money, as you eat less and as your weight drops your calories should too.

Sometimes I eat whole bag of smart popcorn cheese and still lose weight, but try to avoid markets and the "healthy" food. I generally have rule can eat whatever in the house, thus the cabinets and refrig are now bare. No go to store, no food in house, no food in stomach. Weigh everyday at gym. If ahead can have a fry or pizza.

I forgot to add with the 500 calories at the gym I do 2 hours of housework/yardwork everyday. Thus, I don't waste all my exercise at the gym. I usually do 30-35 minutes of treadmill to get 500 calories, after I do some weights for about 15 minutes.

When I used to do extra work, we would joke that we kept our svelt Hollywood figure via the "poverty diet."

Think about it. If I only eat 1500 cals / day and someone else eats 3000 cals / day, they are going to be much bigger than me. I couldn't possibly afford to get fat in the first place. Clearly, the cost of food isn't much of a deterrent for fat people, or at the very least, their priorities in life reflect spending much more money on food than I do.

Just an fyi for those who are missing the not-subtle trolling here. It is great trolling to be sure and I applaud it.

I weight 270, but I lost 10lbs, 10lbs, 5lbs, 5lbs last 4 months. Down about 2 lbs so far this month. I was not going to write until I hit 220, but I saw the message above about the cost. The cost is you should save money. The lowest weight of the month is the official weigh in. I need to get to 270 with all my clothes, wallet, keys, and shoes on. Thus if I hit 270 on July 25th I hit the goal. My lowest in June was 276. I was at 274 yesterday with my sweats on, when my lowest last money was with thin shorts. So I would be 272 already with thin shorts on.

Best advice is on youtube - search "How I lost 100 lbs"

The treadmill says 500 calories, 30 minutes, 2.5 miles, 270 weight, 51 years. Sometimes I have to go a little longer if I am not feeling the run, I might hop on the elliptical for 100 or bike for a 100 but I like treadmill. When I started I could not do 16 minute miles. I probably can do 2.75 miles when I get my shorts back. You get hot, slows you down. Can run and walk 23:00 two mile which puts me at a score of 20 on the Army 2 mile PFT for 40 year olds. Worry I might tear up my knees. So you get stronger with the weight and as is comes off you really improve time without trying. Want to do 20:00 two mile without stopping. I presently stop about every 3 minutes.

Yeah, youre definitely not burning 500 cals in half hour on treadmill. Unless youre literally sprinting and dying at the end. If youre running at 120-150 heartrate its like 200-300cal tops

This helps explain why I always see so many fat people walking (or jogging slowly) on the treadmills at the gym, who never seem to lose any weight.

Indian state of Kerala, which is literally run by communists this days lol, is instituting a new 15% tax on fast food restaurants. http://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-india-36771843

It's very common for dieters to both underestimate the calories they're eating and overestimate the calories their exercise is burning. Human nature and whatnot.

Well when you get off the treadmill after half an hour and say "you know what, I've earned a slice of pie."....and there goes the calorie deficit

I play games on the treadmill. This treadmill lets you enter your weight. I entered the same stuff at a calculator online and is was 535 calories. Yes I am tired at the end, drenched. I workout first, then treadmill. I go to gym hungry, but somehow I am not hungry after workout and go to bed. I presently run the 1/4 at 6 mph. Rest to 3:30 minutes (3.7 mph) and run to the 1/2 at 6.2 mph and rest (3.7 mph) to 7:00 minutes. Then I have built up a long rest bank. So I might bump it up to 7.0 mph to the 3/4 and rest to 10:30. I might have too much rest and subtract a minute off and try to finish off the mile in 10:30-11:00. I might then move the pace up to 3:00 quarters if I have a long rest bank and increase the speed to 7.3 mph when I am running and 3.8 when I am resting. I try to cut the time or have so much time I can walk the last 1/4. But my goal is 2.5 miles in 30 minutes, but I did 2.72 yesterday. But I was not feeling it today (1:00 am) and just walked 100 calories probably because I did not eat enough so I got 1/2 gallon of milk and some chips. The games I play on the treadmill make it fun, but I will probably get a heart attack. But I stop short of dying. I am worried of heat stroke or heat damage as I will be so hot for an hour. Losing weight helps cut the time so it gives another reason to keep calories at 2000.
