Also, yeah, in general people in LA are not fat, but you're probably sticking to the rich areas if you think there aren't any fat people.

I'm not fat, but have had people in my family who were very overweight, and I'm pretty quick to think someone is an ******* if they have a problem with fat people.

I certainly didn't mean that there aren't many fat people in the general population. I am originally from one of America's fattest cities after all. I guess I don't pay much attention to it in my day to day life since it isn't as apparent as it used to be. Contrast I guess.

Since there are people from everywhere, if I see a fat person, I'd assume they are more likely from Texas or some place like that instead of Minnesota.

With that said, most of the management at my job is overweight Jewish guys, which I swear should be a funny stereotype, but I'm not sure.

Well, okay... I probably live in the poorest part of town, plus I work in South Central.

Goes to show the weight problem in America when people itt apparently aren't from a rotund family and thus are comfortable bashing into others for being fat.

Why? They look slovenly, usually dress in clothing that either is way too tight and shows their rolls, or worse doesn't cover their fat, sweaty stomach. They walk slowly and take up an entire sidewalk. They swing their arms out at their sides when they walk because holding them against their sides would mean circulation loss to their fat hotdog fingers. They let their kids acquire juvenile diabetes which is pretty much child abuse imo. Seeing a fat person's buttcrack while out running day-to-day errands is the nut low life experience.

By the way I'm a fatty myself right now at 6'0" 220 - my all-time high. Though I just started barbell powerlifting and hope to build strength then shred down to 189 and be swole. I live in Houston where the average man is 5'6" 380 so I pretty much already look swole.

I cant believe this thread has gone on as long as it has. Lets say this thread was about gay people, post calling them disgusting and saying that you will not talk to, or befriend them would be harshly criticized by others, if not deleted but its okay to say that about fat people?

FWIW i am not fat but my mother is and I find the way most of this people are talking about people like her, disgusting.

That's good that you're offended. I do think that the way fat people are treated is often offensive.

The whole thing is offensive. This topic, my post... people wanting to look perfect, people placing so much value on their sons and daughters if only they just look good, me trying to lift a fat person...like the entire thing is offensive.

Honestly, this thread is pretty tame as far as offensiveness goes given that we're talking on the internet about fat people.

If this thread were in OOT, someone probably would have been banned by now.

I will talk to, befriend, and defend overweight people. I'm pretty sure that kioshk knows how I feel about this topic. My mother is a lot like his mother. Prejudiced against anyone who is overweight. She is obsessed with looks, as are a lot of people in our nation. It makes me ill. Like what a lot of nerve to criticize what others look like. It's beyond me.

The problem is, I think, most people in their heads understand fatness is a lot of the way genetic predisposition, but in their hearts, they just find excessive fatness somewhat repellent, I think. It's more an instinct than learned.

I remember a time when walking around supermarkets with my kids when they were little, if I spotted someone excessively fat in an aisle, I'd go another route, just in case my kid said something.

It was partly sympathy, as I didn't want a kid speaking its mind to offend them, but also selfish as I didn't want to be embarrassed.

Fatness is probably like 12% genetic.

No reason we should have to accept fat people. Thin and healthy are at least partly correlated and should be encouraged.

I was out at breakfast with my mother and she volunteered us to sit at at booth instead of the table we were already at because this fatty couple couldn't fit in the booth. I had no problem with moving but if you can't fit in a booth and don't feel the need to change some of your life choices there is something more wrong then a generic disposition towards being fat.

Fat people in general do not disgust me with the following exceptions:

-when I see them eating ****ty food. In my mind in screaming at them to go eat a salad.
-when their turrible habits are passed on to their children. The kids don't stand a chance.
-when they don't wear appropriate clothing. This is just disgusting. If you have a boobie-do or dickie-do you should not be wearing tight clothing.

Where my mother is concerned, I'm pretty sure she learned it from her mother. Sort of a cultural thing. Beauty valued even above brains in her family. Sigh. I always found it really superficial.

Hell it's even evident at work where my coworkers (nurses/doctors) worship patients who happen to be cute. Someone can misbehave horribly but if they, by the grace of god, happen to be pretty (or if their boyfriend just incidentally happens to be hot) all is excused. haha like wtf

While I see your point with the story you shared, I'm pretty sure there is something about all of us that others find unattractive.
